ABSTRACT: The anion in the title salt, (C(7)H(11)N(2))[SnBr(2)(C(6)H(5))(3)], lies on a twofold rotation axis that passes through the metal atom as well as the C(ipso)-C(para) atoms of one of the aromatic rings. The metal center is five-coordinate in a trans-Br(2)SnC(3) trigonal bipyramidal geometry. The cation is disordered about a center of inversion.

The [SnCl(6)](2-) anion is located on an inversion center and forms a quasi-regular octa-hedral arrangement. Hydrogen-bonding inter-actions of two kinds, viz. Project description:In the title mol-ecular salt, (C5H7N2)2[SnCl6], the cation is protonated at the pyridine N atom and the complete dianion is generated by a crystallographic centre of symmetry. In the crystal, N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds link the components into a three-dimensional network built up from the stacking of alternate cationic and anionic layers. The nature of the inter-molecular inter-actions has been analysed in terms of the Hirshfeld surfaces of the cations and the anions. The thermal behaviour and the Raman spectrum of the title compound are reported.
