ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(21)H(28)N(2)O(5), has two intra-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds. Inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds [graph-set motif R(2) (2)(8)] give rise to a dimer. Weak N-H?N hydrogen bonds between neighboring dimers further extend the crystal structure, which exhibits an infinite chain motif.

Project description:In the title compound, C(17)H(18)O(5), the pyrogallol group is almost coplanar with the mean plane of the attached carbonyl group [dihedral angle of 1.95 (13)°] and makes a dihedral angle of 56.01 (10)° with the other benzene ring. Of the three meth-oxy groups, only one is significantly twisted relative to its attached benzene ring [C-O-C-C torsion angles of 4.0 (5), 3.9 (6) and -106.3 (4)°]. Intra-molecular O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds help to establish the conformation, and the packing is consolidated by C-H⋯O inter-actions and π-π stacking interactions [centroid-centroid separation = 3.735 (2) Å].

Project description:In the title compound, C20H20N4O2·H2O, the planes of the phen-oxy and phthalo-nitrile rings are oriented at a dihedral angle of 60.39 (5)°. The 3-(di--methyl-amino)-propyl chain has an extended conformation and is cis with respect to the phthalo-nitrile ring. In the crystal, O-H⋯O, O-H⋯N and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules to form slabs parallel to (100). There are also C-H⋯O and C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds and C-H⋯π inter-actions present within the slabs. The slabs are linked by a pair of inversion-related C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, involving phthalo-nitrile rings, forming a three-dimensional structure.
