The torsion angle about the ring-methylene C-C bond is 30.7?(3)°, such that the N atom is displaced by 1.174?(4)?Å from the plane of the naphthalene ring system.

The mol-ecular conformation is stabilized by an intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bond, closing a six-membered ring. The dihedral angle between the naphthalene ring system and the benzene ring is 76.72?(8)°. The nitro substituent and the attached naphthalene system are almost coplanar [dihedral angle = 5.6?(4)°], probably as a consequence of an intra-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bond with the amine group.
