ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Zn(C(2)N(3))(2)(C(12)H(9)NO)(2)](n), is a polymeric zinc(II) complex with the metal ion located on an inversion centre. The Zn(II) ion is six-coordinated by two N atoms of two 3-benzoyl-pyridine ligands and four N atoms from four dicyanamide ligands, forming a slightly distorted octa-hedral configuration. In the crystal structure, neighboring Zn atoms are linked together by double dicyanamide bridges to form a polymeric zinc(II) complex.

Project description:Cobalt(II) nitrate hexa-hydrate and sodium dicyanamide self-assembled in dimethyl-formamide (DMF) and 4-methyl-pyridine solutions to form the title compound, [Co(C(2)N(3))(2)(C(6)H(7)N)(2)](n). The Co(2+) ion lies on an inversion center and adopts an octa-hedral coordination geometry in which four N atoms from four different dicyanamide ligands lie in the equatorial plane and two 4-methyl-pyridine N atoms occupy the axial positions. Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Cd(NCS)(2)(C(5)H(5)N)(2)](n), consists of two crystallographically independent Cd(II) cations, four thio-cyanato anions and four pyridine ligands. The Cd(II) atoms are each coordinated by four N atoms from two pyridine ligands and two thio-cyanato anions, each in a mutually cis orientation, and by two S atoms from two adjacent thio-cyanato anions within a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination environment. The Cd(II) atoms are μ-1,3-bridged via the thio-cyanato anions into polymeric chains parallel to [001]. The Cd(II)⋯Cd(II) intra-chain separations range between 5.9688 (6) and 6.0195 (6) Å, whereas the shortest Cd(II)⋯Cd(II) inter-chain separations are 7.8272 (7) and 8.6312 (6) Å.

Project description:The title one-dimensional coordination polymer, [Zn(C9H4O6)(C5H5N)2] n or [Zn(HBTC)(py)2] n , (I), where BTC is benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylate and py is pyridine, is a solvent-free polymorph of [Zn(HBTC)(py)2]·2C2H5OH [Yaghi et al. (1997 ▶). Chem. Mater. 9, 1074-1076]. Differences in the spatial arrangements and supra-molecular packing of the [Zn(HBTC)(py)2] n chains in the two structures are described. The chain in (I) extends parallel to [100] and is severely puckered, with a Zn⋯Zn distance of 8.3599 (3) Å and a Zn⋯Zn⋯Zn angle of 107.516 (3)°, as a result of hydrogen-bonding inter-actions of the types O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O. There is no evidence for π-π inter-actions in (I). The differences between the solvent-free and solvent-containing structures can be accounted for by the absence of the ethanol solvent mol-ecule and the use of the converging pair of O atoms in the bis-monodentate bridging HBTC(2-) ligand in (I).

Project description:In the title compound, [Zn(N(3))(2)(C(10)H(9)N(3))](n), tetra-hedrally coordinated Zn(II) ions with two monodentate azide ligands are linked into zigzag one-dimensional chain motifs by di-4-pyridylamine (dpa) tethers. Individual [Zn(N(3))(2)(dpa)](n) chains are connected into supra-molecular layers via N-H⋯N hydrogen bonding between the central amine groups of the dpa ligands and terminal unligated azide N atoms. The azide ligands in one supra-molecular layer penetrate through the neighboring layers above and below, allowing stacking into a three-dimensional structure.
