Bis[4-(4-pyridyl)pyridinium] (4-carboxy-pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ato-κO,N,O)(pyridine-2,4,6-tricarboxyl-ato-κO,N,O)ferrate(III) trihydrate.

ABSTRACT: In the title salt, (C(10)H(9)N(2))(2)[Fe(C(8)H(2)NO(6))(C(8)H(3)NO(6))]·3H(2)O, the Fe(III) atom is O,N,O'-chelated by dianionic and trianionic ligands in a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. The cations and ferrate anions are linked into a layered structure; the layers are connected through the uncoordinated water mol-ecules into a hydrogen-bonded three-dimensional supra-molecular structure. One of the uncoordinated water molecules is disordered around an inversion centre and was refined with half-occupancy for each position.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title coordination polymer, [Pb(2)(C(8)H(2)NO(6))(OH)](n), contains two crystallographically independent Pb(II) ions, one pyridine-2,4,6-tricarboxyl-ate (ptc) trianion and one hydroxide anion. One of the Pb(II) atoms is coordinated by one pyridine N and four carboxyl-ate O atoms from the ptc trianion and a hydroxide O atom in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The other Pb(II) atom is five-coordinated by three carboxyl-ate O atoms and two hydroxide O atoms in a distorted tetra-gonal-pyramidal geometry. Four neighbouring Pb(II) atoms are bridged through two ?(3)-hydroxide ligands, forming the centrosymmetric Pb(4)(OH)(2) core. Project description:The title compound, (C(10)H(9)N(2))[Al(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(2)]·3H(2)O or (2,2'-bipyH)[Al(pydc)(2)]·3H(2)O (where 2,2'-bipy is 2,2'-bipyridine and pydcH(2) is pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid), was synthesized by the reaction of aluminium(III) nitrate nona-hydrate with pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid and 2,2'-bipyridine in a 1:2:4 molar ratio in aqueous solution. This compound is composed of an anionic complex, [Al(pydc)(2)](-), a protonated 2,2'-bipyridine mol-ecule as a counter-ion, (2,2'-bipyH)(+), and three uncoordinated water mol-ecules. The anion is a six-coordinate complex, with the Al(III) atom in a distorted octa-hedral geometry coordinated by two tridentate pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate groups. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O, N-H⋯N and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, π-π stacking between two aromatic rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.827 (10) Å], and C=O⋯π stacking [with distances of 3.2311 (13), 3.4924 (14) and 3.5731 (13) Å], connect the various components to form a supra-molecular structure.

The anion bears two nine-coordinate Ce(III) ions, each with a distorted tricapped trigonal-prismatic geometry. In the crystal, inter-molecular C-H⋯O, N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, as well as π-π inter-actions with centroid-centroid distances of 3.514 (3) Å connect the various components into a supra-molecular structure.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, {[Tb(C(8)H(2)NO(6))(H(2)O)(3)]·H(2)O}(n), contains one Tb(III) ion, one pyridine-2,4,6-tricarboxyl-ate (ptc) anion, three aqua ligands and one lattice water mol-ecule. The Tb(III) ion is nine coordinated by one N and five O atoms from three ptc ligands and by three O atoms from the three aqua ligands in a distorted bicapped trigonal-prismatic geometry. The ptc ligands bridge the Tb(III) ions into a two-dimensional polymeric framework parallel to (100). An extensive O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding network consolidates the crystal packing.

Project description:The reaction of Zn(NO(3))(2) with pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid (pydcH(2)) and acridine (acr) in aqueous solution leads to the formation of the title compound, (C(13)H(10)N)[Zn(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(C(7)H(4)NO(4))]·5H(2)O or (acrH)[Zn(pydcH)(pydc)]·5H(2)O. In the title compound, the Zn(II) atom is coordinated by four O atoms and two N atoms from the tridentate chelating rings of (pydc)(2-) and (pydcH)(-) anions. The geometry of the resulting ZnN(2)O(4) coordination can be described as distorted octa-hedral. To balance the charges, one protonated acridine (acrH)(+) cation is present. In the crystal structure, extensive O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds involving acrH(+), the complex anion and uncoordinated water mol-ecules form a three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title compound, (C(4)H(14)N(2))[Cu(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(2)]·3H(2)O or (bdaH(2))[Cu(pydc)(2)]·3H(2)O (where bda is butane-1,4-diamine and pydcH(2) is pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid), the Cu(II) atom is coordinated by four O atoms [Cu-O = 2.0557 (16)-2.3194 (16) Å] and two N atoms [Cu-N = 1.9185 (18) and 1.9638 (18) Å] from two chelating rings of the pydc(2-) anions, which act as tridentate ligands. The geometry of the resulting CuN(2)O(4) coordination can be described as distorted octa-hedral. The the two pydc(2-) fragments are almost perpendicular to one another [77.51 (11)°]. To balance the charges, two centrosymmetric protonated butane-1,4-diammonium, (bdaH(2))(2+) cations are present. In the crystal structure, extensive O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds [D⋯A = 2.720 (2)-3.446 (3) Å], ion pairing, C-O⋯π [O⋯π = 3.099 (2) Å] and π-π stacking inter-actions between the pydc(2-) rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.5334 (15) Å] contribute to the formation of a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.

Project description:In the title compound, (C(13)H(11)N(2))(2)[Zn(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(2)]·3H(2)O, the Zn(II) ion is six-coordinated with the N(4)O(2) donor set being a distorted octa-hedron through two almost perpendicular (r.m.s. deviation of ligand atoms from the mean plane is 0.057?Å) tridentate pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate ligands [dihedral angle between the ligands = 86.06?(4)°]. The charge is compensated by two 9-amino-acridinium cations protonated on the ring N atom. A variety of inter-molecular contacts, such as ion-ion, N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds, and ?-? stacking [centroid-centroid distances = 3.4907?(9)-4.1128?(8)?Å], between cations and between anions, play important roles in the formation of the three-dimensional network.

The Cu(II) atom is coordinated by two pydc dianions acting as tridentate ligands, and forming five-membered chelate rings with copper(II) as the central atom. The Cu(II) atom is surrounded by four O atoms in the equatorial plane and two pyridine N atoms in axial positions, resulting in a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. In the crystal, there are two types of O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding synthons linking the anionic and cationic fragments and the water mol-ecules, namely R(4) (4)(16), and R(4) (2)(8). There are also weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, π-π stacking inter-actions [the shortest centroid-centroid distance is 3.350 (2) Å], and a C-O⋯π inter-action [O⋯centroid distance = 3.564 (2) Å], which connect the various components into a three-dimensional network.

Non-covalent inter-actions i.e. N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and inter-molecular π-π contacts between the pyridine rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.7773 (13) Å] and acridine rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.4897 (13), 3.7784 (14) and 3.8627 (15) Å] result in the formation of a three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title compound, [Mn(C(8)H(2)NO(6))(H(2)O)(2)](n), each pyridine-2,4,6-tricarboxyl-ate (tpc) ligand bridges two Mn(II) ions with the formation of polymeric chains located on a twofold rotation axis. Each Mn(II) ion is coordinated by two O and one N atoms from one tpc ligand, two O atoms from another ligand and two water mol-ecules in a distorted penta-gonal-bipyramidal geometry. The Mn-N [2.243?(2)?Å] and Mn-O [2.206?(2)-2.3123?(16)?Å] bond lengths are normal. The coordinated water mol-ecules link neighbouring polymeric chains via O-H?O hydrogen bonds into a two-dimensional framework parallel to the bc plane.
