ABSTRACT: The title compound, {[BaPt(CN)(4)(C(12)H(26)N(2)O(4))]·0.5H(2)O}(n), is a two-dimensional coordination polymer in which the sheets are oriented approximately parallel to the (01) set of crystal planes. In the crystal structure, disordered water mol-ecules (half occupancy) connect the sheets into a three-dimensional network via inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. An N-H⋯N inter-action is also present. The shortest Pt⋯Pt contacts are 7.5969 (4) Å by an inversion relationship and 7.6781 (4) Å by translation along the a axis.

Project description:In the title salt, C12H28N2O4 (2+)·2C5H4NO2 (-), the 1,4,10,13-tetra-oxa-7,16-di-aza-cyclo-octa-decane dication possesses inversion symmetry. In the crystal, the pyrrole-carboxyl-ate anions are linked via pairs of N-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming inversion dimers. These dimers are linked by the dications, via N-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming chains propagating along [110].

Synthesis and Characterization of Macrocyclic Polyether N,N'-Diallyl-7,16-diaza-1,4,10,13-tetraoxa-dibenzo-18-crown-6.

Project description:In this study an efficient and direct production procedure for a macrocyclic polyether N,N'-diallyl-7,16-diaza-1,4,10,13-tetraoxa-dibenzo-18-crown-6 from the reaction of catechol and N,N-bis(2-chloroethyl)prop-2-en-1-amine in n-butanol in the presence of a strong base is reported. The synthesis involves a two-step addition of sodium hydroxide to enhance the cyclization process, and at the end of the reaction, the reaction mixture is neutralized and the solvent replaced with water in-situ through distillation to afford a relatively pure precipitate that is easily recrystallized from acetone. The yield of the macrocycle was 36%-45% and could be scaled-up to one-mole quantities. The structure and purity of this compound was verified on the basis of elemental analysis, IR, UV-Vis, ¹H-, (13)C-NMR, 2D-NMR, mass spectroscopy, and thermal analysis. The white crystalline compound has a sharp melting point of 124 °C and a crystallization temperature of 81.4 °C determined by differential scanning calorimetry. Our motivation behind the synthesis of the bibracchial lariat azacrown polyether ligand was to examine its possible applications in ion-selective polymer-supported materials.

The crystal structure is stabilized by weak inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, [Rb(C(12)H(24)O(6))](3)[Sb(7)]·4NH(3), fills the gap between the already known Zintl anion ammoniates {[Cs(18-crown-6)](3)Sb(7)}(2)·9NH(3) [Wiesler (2007 ▶). As in the two known compounds, the anti-mony cage anion in this crystal structure is coordinated by three alkali cations. The coordination spheres of each of the cations are saturated by 18-crown-6 mol-ecules. The ammonia mol-ecules of crystallization are situated between the crown ethers. The neutral, mol-ecular [Rb(18-crown-6)](3)Sb(7) units are inter-connected by multiple dipole-dipole interactions between ammonia and 18-crown-6.

Project description:In the title complex, {[Cu(2)Mo(CN)(8)(C(12)H(30)N(6)O(2))(2)]·4H(2)O}(n), the polyhedron around Mo has site symmetry with a distorted square-antiprismatic shape, while the Cu atom (2 symmetry) is in a distorted axially elongated octa-hedral coordination environment. The uncoordinated water molecule is disordered over three sites with occupancies of 0.445 (7), 0.340 (7) and 0.215 (7). Mo and Cu atoms acting as basic components are connected by an Mo-CN-Cu-NC-Mo- linkage to form a distorted diamond-like network. Additional hydrogen bonding between the N-H groups and the water molecules stabilizes this arrangement.

In the crystal, the two mol-ecules are arranged alternately and are linked by O-H?N hydrogen bonds, leading to the formation of a chain along the [20-1] direction. Project description:The title compound, C(18)H(24)I(2), has an adamantanoid structure with tetra-hedral cages having four C atoms lying on the same plane [(I-)C-C-C-C(-I) torsion angle = 0°]. The plane is extended by the two I atoms, each having a deviation of 1.0?(6)?Å [C-C-C-I torsion angle = 178.9?(4)°]. The central C-C bond connecting the two quaternary carbons seems enlarged [1.593?(9)?Å] in comparison to the corresponding bond in [2]diadamantane [1.554?(3)?Å]. This is attributed to the presence of the electronegative I atoms, which affect inductively the C atoms of the four-C-atom plane, making the central C-C bond weaker.

The Ni(II) atom lies on an inversion center and is octa-hedrally coordinated by a cyclam ligand lying in the equatorial plane and by two cyanide N atoms. The asymmetric unit contains one half of the complex mol-ecule and a methanol solvent mol-ecule. In the crystal structure, the complex mol-ecule is linked to the methanol solvent mol-ecules via O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds.
