ABSTRACT: In the centrosymmetric title compound, [Zn(4)(C(9)H(6)NO)(6)(C(2)H(3)O(2))(2)]·2H(2)O, the Zn(II) atom that is bonded to one O atom of the acetate group is chelated by a quinolin-8-olate anion. This Zn atom is also bonded to the oxide O atoms of two other quinolin-8-olate anions, which themselves engage in chelation to the other Zn(II) atoms. The Zn(II) atom is five-coordinate in a square-pyramidal coordination geometry. The second Zn(II) atom is six-coordinate as it is linked to two oxide O atoms of the anions that chelate to the acetate-bound metal atom, and is chelated by two quinolin-8-olate ligands. The uncoordinated water mol-ecule is disordered over two positions in a 4:1 ratio. O-H?O hydrogen bonds between the water molecules and the free O atoms of the carboxylate groups consolidate the crystal packing.

Project description:The mol-ecule of the title compound, [Pb(2)(C(9)H(5)ClNO)(2)(C(2)H(3)O(2))(2)], lies about a center of inversion. The Pb(II) atom is chelated by acetate and substituted quinolin-8-olate anions; the O atoms of the quinolin-8-olates also bridge to confer a five-coordinate status to each metal center. The geometry approximates a distorted ?-fac octa-hedron in which one of the sites is occupied by a stereochemically active lone pair.

Project description:The title complex, [Cu(4)(C(5)H(12)NO)(2)(C(2)H(3)O(2))(6)(C(4)H(8)O)(2)](n), consists of dinuclear [Cu(2)(C(5)H(12)NO)(2)(THF)(2)] (THF is tetra-hydro-furan) and [Cu(2)(CH(3)COO)(4)] units linked through acetate ions, generating parallel one-dimensional polymeric chains propagating in the [10] direction. In the first dinuclear unit, Cu(II) ions related by inversion symmetry are bridged by two 3-(dimethyl-amino)propan-1-olate ligands. Likewise, a pair of inversion-related Cu(II) ions are bridged by four acetate groups. The crystallographically independent Cu centers are linked to one another by a single bridging acetate group, generating an infinite chain. The distorted square-pyramidal coordination of the first metal center is completed with an apical THF mol-ecule, with a long Cu-O bond length of 2.476?(5)?Å. The geometry around the other metal atom is close to octa-hedral, and the Cu?Cu separation in this unit is 2.652?(1)?Å. The distance between the metal centers in the first dinuclear unit is considerably longer [3.068?(1)?Å], suggesting little or no bonding inter-action. The Cu?Cu separation between two acetate-bridged independent Cu centers is 4.860?(2)?Å. The THF mol-ecule has methyl-ene groups disordered over two positions, with occupancies of 0.608?(13) and 0.392?(13).

Project description:In the title compound, [Hf(C(11)H(10)NO)(4)]·2C(3)H(7)NO, the Hf(IV) atom is coordinated by four N,O-donating bidentate 5,7-dimethyl-8-quinolino-late (Ox(-)) ligands arranged to give a distorted square-anti-prismatic coordination polyhedron. The average Hf-O and Hf-N distances are 2.098 and 2.298?Å, respectively, and the average O-Hf-N bite angle is 70.2°. The crystal packing is controlled by ?-? inter-actions between Ox(-) ligands of neighbouring mol-ecules, giving rise to a three-dimensional supra-molecular grid network. Project description:In the title dinuclear ionic complex, [Cd(2)(C(4)H(4)N(2))(H(2)O)(8)][Cd(2)(CH(3)CO(2))(8)(C(4)H(4)N(2))], the cation and anion are disordered equally over a site with symmetry mmm. The Cd(II) ions and the N atoms of the bridging pyrazine ligand lie on the inter-section of two crystallographic mirror planes. The C atoms of the bridging pyrazine ligand lie on one of these mirror planes, and the acetate groups and water mol-ecules lie across the inter-secting mirror planes. Each Cd(II) atom in the cation is five-coordinated by four O atoms from four water mol-ecules and one N atom from the bridging pyrazine ligand, whereas each Cd(II) in the anion is nine-coordinated by four pairs of O atoms from the bidentate acetate ligands and one N atom from the bridging pyrazine ligand. In the crystal structure, each anion is surrounded by eight nearest-neighbour cations and vice versa. The crystal structure is stabilized by ionic inter-actions as well as by C-H?O inter-actions.

Both pyridyl rings on the ligand are protonated, forming pyridinium rings and creating an overall ligand charge of +1. The protonated nitro-gen-containing rings are involved in hydrogen-bonding inter-actions with neighoring bromide anions. There are many additional hydrogen-bonding inter-actions involving coordinated water mol-ecules on the NiII atom, bromide anions and hydration water mol-ecules.

Project description:The title compound (C(5)H(14)NO)(4)[Cu(2)(CH(3)COO)(4)Cl(2)]Cl(2), consists of a pair of Cu(II) ions bridged by four acetate groups, resulting in a Cu(2)(CH(3)COO)(4) unit, four (3-hydroxy-prop-yl)dimethyl-ammonium cations (two crystallographically independent pairs) and two chloride anions. The Cu atoms at both termini are bonded to chloride anions. The latter are hydrogen bonded to one of the two pairs of crystallographically independent (3-hydroxy-prop-yl)dimethyl-ammonium cations. The Cu(2)(CH(3)COO)(4) unit is located on a crystallographic inversion center, and the geometry around each metal center is close to octa-hedral. The Cl-Cu-Cu angles are nearly linear [177.48?(2)°] and the Cu-O bond lengths are in the range 1.9712?(18)-1.9809?(19)?Å. The Cu?Cu separation between the two acetate-bridged Cu(II) centers is 2.6793?(8)?Å. The packing of the crystal structure is dominated by N-H?Cl hydrogen bonding between the ammonium groups and the chloride anions, as well as by O-H?O and O-H?Cl hydrogen bonds. One of the 3-hydroxypropyldimethylammonium cations shows orientational disorder with an occupancy ratio of 0.812?(4): 0.188?(4).
