Catena-Poly[[bis-(4-carboxy-cyclo-hexane-carboxyl-ato-?O,O)cadmium(II)]-?-1,4-bis-(imidazol-1-ylmeth-yl)benzene-?N:N].

ABSTRACT: In the title coordination polymer, [Cd(C(8)H(11)O(4))(2)(C(14)H(14)N(4))](n), the Cd atom (site symmetry 2) is six-coordin-ated by two O,O'-bidentate 4-carboxy-cyclo-hexa-necarboxyl-ate (Hchdc) ligands and two N atoms from two different 1,4-bis-(imidazol-1-ylmeth-yl)benzene (1,4-bix) mol-ecules in a very distorted cis-CdN(2)O(4) octa-hedral environment. The 1,4-bix mol-ecules act as bridging ligands that bind two Cd(II) atoms, thus forming an infinite chain propagating in [100], which is decorated by the Hchdc anions. The structure is completed by O-H?O hydrogen bonds, which link the chains together.

Project description:The structure of the polymeric title compound, [Ni(2)(C(8)H(10)O(4))(2)(C(14)H(14)N(4))](n), features a five-coordinate Ni(II) centre defined by four carboxyl-ate O atoms from two different cyclo-hexane-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate (chdc) ligands and an N atom from one end of a 1,4-bis-(imidazol-1-ylmeth-yl)benzene (1,4-bix) mol-ecule. The NO(4) coordination geometry is distorted square-pyramidal with the N atom in the apical position. Each end of the chdc ligand links pairs of Ni(II) atoms into a paddle-wheel assembly, i.e. Ni(2)(O(2)CR')(4). These are connected into rows owing to the bridging nature of the chdc ligands, and the rows are connected into a two-dimensional grid via the 1,4-bix ligands. The 1,4-bix ligand, which is disposed about a centre of inversion, is disorderd. Two positions of equal occupancy were discerned for the -H(2)C(C(6)H(4))CH(2)- residue.

Project description:In the title compound, [Co(2)(C(8)H(10)O(4))(2)(C(14)H(14)N(4))](n), the two Co(II) atoms are both five-coordinated by four carboxyl-ate O atoms, derived from two different cyclo-hexane-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate (chdc) ligands, and an N atom, derived from one end of a 1,4-bis-(imidazol-1-ylmeth-yl)benzene mol-ecule (1,4-bix), in a distorted square-pyramidal environment. Each end of the chdc ligand links pairs of Co(II) atoms into a paddle-wheel assembly, i.e. Co(2)(O(2)CR')(4); these are connected into rows because of the bridging nature of the chdc ligands, and the rows are further connected into a two-dimensional layer through the 1,4-bix ligands. Project description:In the title compound, [Ag(2)(C(14)H(14)N(4))(2)](C(7)H(4)O(6)S)·CH(3)OH·3H(2)O, the complex dication has a binuclear structure in which each Ag(I) ion is two-coordinated in a slightly distorted linear coordination geometry. The two Ag(I) atoms are bridged by two 1,2-bis-[(1H-imidazol-1-yl)meth-yl]benzene (IBI) ligands, forming a 22-membered ring. In the dication, π-π inter-actions are observed between the imidazole rings with centroid-centroid distances of 3.472 (3) and 3.636 (3) Å. In the crystal, the uncoordinated water mol-ecules, anions and methanol solvent mol-ecules are linked into chains along the b axis by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. In addition, π-π inter-actions are observed between the benzene rings of the IBI ligands, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.776 (2) Å. The sulfonate group is disordered over two orientations with occupancies of 0.676 (12) and 0.324 (12).

The ligand adopts two distinct conformations that are alternated in subsequent loops. The Zn(II) ion displays a slightly distorted tetra-hedral geometry being coordinated by four N atoms from four 1,3-bis-(imidazol-1-ylmeth-yl)benzene ligands. The nitrate ions and methanol solvent mol-ecules are located between adjacent double-stranded chains and participate in an extensive net of O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds. The resulting three-dimensional assembly is further stabilized by ?-? inter-actions between benzene rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.878?(2) and 3.853?(2)?Å].
