Poly[[?(2)-1,2-bis-(imidazol-1-ylmeth-yl)benzene](?(2)-cyclo-hexane-1,4-dicarboxyl-ato)cobalt(II)].

ABSTRACT: In the the title compound, [Co(C(8)H(10)O(4))(C(14)H(14)N(4))](n), the Co(II) atom is four-coordinated by two N atoms from two different 1,2-bis-(imidazol-1-ylmeth-yl)benzene ligands and two carboxyl-ate O atoms from two different cyclo-hexane-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate anions in a tetra-hedral coordination geometry. The resulting structure is a two-dimensional polymer with layers in the (100) plane.

Project description:The structure of the polymeric title compound, [Ni(2)(C(8)H(10)O(4))(2)(C(14)H(14)N(4))](n), features a five-coordinate Ni(II) centre defined by four carboxyl-ate O atoms from two different cyclo-hexane-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate (chdc) ligands and an N atom from one end of a 1,4-bis-(imidazol-1-ylmeth-yl)benzene (1,4-bix) mol-ecule. The NO(4) coordination geometry is distorted square-pyramidal with the N atom in the apical position. Each end of the chdc ligand links pairs of Ni(II) atoms into a paddle-wheel assembly, i.e. Ni(2)(O(2)CR')(4). These are connected into rows owing to the bridging nature of the chdc ligands, and the rows are connected into a two-dimensional grid via the 1,4-bix ligands. The 1,4-bix ligand, which is disposed about a centre of inversion, is disorderd. Two positions of equal occupancy were discerned for the -H(2)C(C(6)H(4))CH(2)- residue.

Project description:In the title compound, [Co(2)(C(8)H(10)O(4))(2)(C(14)H(14)N(4))](n), the two Co(II) atoms are both five-coordinated by four carboxyl-ate O atoms, derived from two different cyclo-hexane-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate (chdc) ligands, and an N atom, derived from one end of a 1,4-bis-(imidazol-1-ylmeth-yl)benzene mol-ecule (1,4-bix), in a distorted square-pyramidal environment. Each end of the chdc ligand links pairs of Co(II) atoms into a paddle-wheel assembly, i.e. Co(2)(O(2)CR')(4); these are connected into rows because of the bridging nature of the chdc ligands, and the rows are further connected into a two-dimensional layer through the 1,4-bix ligands. The 1,4-bix ligand, which is disposed about a centre of inversion, is disorderd. Two positions were discerned for the -CH(2)(C(6)H(4))CH(2)- residue, with the major component having a site-occupancy factor of 0.512?(9).

Project description:In the title coordination polymer, [Cd(C(8)H(11)O(4))(2)(C(14)H(14)N(4))](n), the Cd atom (site symmetry 2) is six-coordin-ated by two O,O'-bidentate 4-carboxy-cyclo-hexa-necarboxyl-ate (Hchdc) ligands and two N atoms from two different 1,4-bis-(imidazol-1-ylmeth-yl)benzene (1,4-bix) mol-ecules in a very distorted cis-CdN(2)O(4) octa-hedral environment. The 1,4-bix mol-ecules act as bridging ligands that bind two Cd(II) atoms, thus forming an infinite chain propagating in [100], which is decorated by the Hchdc anions. The structure is completed by O-H?O hydrogen bonds, which link the chains together.

The cis-chdc ligands bridge the trinuclear Mn(II) clusters, forming chains, which are further linked into a three-dimensional network.

Neighbouring single chains are connected by the HNCP ligands from two opposite directions, resulting in a sheet. In addition, there are N-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions between adjacent layers. As a result, the polymeric sheets are further extended into a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Cd(2)(C(8)H(10)O(4))(2)(C(23)H(14)N(4)O)(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·H(2)O, consists of one half of the dimeric complex, which lies about an inversion centre, and a half-occupancy solvent water mol-ecule on a general position. Each Cd(II) cation is six-coordinated by the two N atoms from one 1-(1H-imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthrolin-2-yl)naphthalen-2-ol (L) ligand and three O atoms from two different 1,4-chdc(2-) ligands (1,4-H(2)chdc = cyclo-hexane-1,4-dicarb-oxy-lic acid), two coordinating in a bidentate fashion and the other in a monodentate fashion. The distorted octa-hedral coordination sphere is completed by a coordinated water mol-ecule. The Cd(II) atoms are each bridged by two 1,4-chdc(2-) ligands, forming an inversion dimer with the L ligands located on the outside of the dimeric unit. An intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bond occurs. In the crystal, O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions stabilize the packing.
