ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Zn(2)Cl(4)(C(22)H(18)N(4))(2)]·2C(3)H(7)NO, the 1,3-bis-[(benzimidazol-1-yl)meth-yl]benzene ligand bridges two ZnCl(2) units, forming a centrosymmetric dinuclear mol-ecule. The Zn(II) atom shows a distorted tetra-hedral coordination within a Cl(2)N(2) donor set.

Project description:The aromatic mol-ecule of the title compound, C(20)H(14)N(4)·2C(3)H(7)NO, occupies a special position on an inversion center. The benzimidazole unit (planar to within 0.008?Å) forms a dihedral angle of 9.1?(2)° with the central benzene ring. The benzimidazole H atom participates in a hydrogen bond with the dimethyl-formamide solvent molecule, thus giving rise to the title 1:2 aggregate. These aggregates are further linked in the crystal structure by aromatic ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 6.356?(2)?Å].

Project description:In the title compound, [Zn(C(30)H(26)N(4)O)(2)](C(6)H(2)N(3)O(7))(2)·2C(3)H(7)NO, the Zn(II) ion is coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral environment involving four equatorial N atoms and two O atoms in axial sites. The dihedral angles between the benzimidazole ring system and the phenyl rings in each of the benzyl-benzimidazole units are 78.56?(12), 81.68?(11), 75.76?(10) and 85.78?(9)°. In the crystal structure, there are weak but significant inter-molecular ?-? stacking inter-actions with centroid-centroid distances of 3.685?(1) and 3.978?(1)?Å.

Project description:In the title compound, [Ni(C(19)H(13)N(5))(2)](C(6)H(2)N(3)O(7))(2)·2C(3)H(7)NO, the Ni(II) ion is coordinated by two tridentate 2,6-bis-(1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)pyridine ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. In the crystal structure, the picrate anions and solvent dimethyl-formamide (DMF) mol-ecules are connected to the cation via inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. Further stabilization is provided by weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. One of the DMF moleclues is disordered over two sites with refined occupancies of 0.737 (3) and 0.263 (3).

There are significant differences between chemically equivalent coordination bond lengths. The crystal structure is stabilized by weak inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds and weak ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance 3.495?(1)?Å]. In one of the anions one nitro group is rotationally disordered about the C-N bond with refined occupancies of 0.524?(8) and 0.476?(8).

Project description:The title zinc complex, [ZnCl(2)(C(18)H(22)N(4))], contains a bidentate 1,2-bis(3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-ylmeth-yl)benz-ene ligand that binds to the zinc atom, forming a nine-membered metallocyclic ring. The geometry about the Zn atom is distorted tetra-hedral, with the largest deviation observed in the magnitude of the Cl-Zn-Cl angle. Similar distortions are observed in the cobalt analogue and related zinc compounds containing metallocyclic rings with more than six members. The copper analogue exhibits a more severe distortion of the metal coordination sphere than is observed in the title compound.

Adjacent mol-ecules are further linked by N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds and the solvent is linked to the complex by N-H?O hydrogen bonds.
