ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Eu(III)(NO(3))(2)(C(24)H(28)Cl(2)N(6)O(2))]NO(3)·0.5CH(3)OH, is isostructural with the Gd(III) and Ho(III) complexes of the analogous macrocyclic ligand, with both Cl atoms replaced by methyl groups. The Eu atom exhibits a nine-coordinate distorted tricapped trigonal-prismatic coordination geometry. The methanol solvent mol-ecule is disordered about a twofold rotation axis with occupancies of 0.543?(12):0.457?(12).

Project description:In the title compound, C(25)H(22)Cl(2)N(2)O(4)·CH(3)OH, the macrocyclic mol-ecule adopts a slightly distorted C(2)-symmetric conformation. The macrocyclic mol-ecules are linked via N-H?O hydrogen bonds between the amide groups into chains extending along the [010] direction. The methanol mol-ecules bridge these chains via N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds with the formation of a two-dimensional polymeric structure parallel to (001). The methanol mol-ecule is disordered over two positions with the occupancy ratio of 9:1. The disorder of the solvent molecule is caused by weak intermolecular C-H?Cl hydrogen bonding.

Project description:The title compound, C(34)H(52)N(2)O(7)·CH(4)O, is the methanol solvate of a difunctionalized derivative of the therapeutic agent 18?-glycyrrhetinic acid, a penta-cyclic triterpene. The five six-membered rings of the glycyrrhetinic acid moiety show normal geometries, with four rings in chair conformations and the unsaturated ring in a half-chair conformation. This moiety is substituted by a nitrate ester group and an O-ethyl-glycine group. In the crystal, the nonsolvent mol-ecules are packed parallel to (010) in a herringbone fashion with the nitrato, ethyl-glycine and methanol-O atom being proximate. The methanol solvent mol-ecule is anchored via a donated O-H?O(ac-yl) and an accepted N-H?O hydrogen bond, giving rise to infinite zigzag chains of hydrogen bonds parallel to [100]. Two weak intermolecular C-H?O interactions to the methanol and to an acyl oxygen establish links along [100] and [010], respectively.

Project description:THE ASYMMETRIC UNIT OF THE TITLE COMPOUND [SYSTEMATIC NAME: aqua-bis(2,4,6-trinitro-phenolato)(3,6,9-trioxaundecane-1,11-diol)gadolinium(III) 2,4,6-trinitro-phenolate methanol hemi-solvate], [Gd(C(6)H(2)N(3)O(7))(2)(C(8)H(18)O(5))(H(2)O)](C(6)H(2)N(3)O(7))·0.5CH(4)O, contains two crystallographically independent Gd(III) complex cations with two uncoordinated picrate anions and one methanol mol-ecule. Each Gd(III) atom has nine coordination sites occupied by five O atoms of tetra-ethyl-ene glycol as a penta-dentate ligand, one O atom of a water mol-ecule and three O atoms of the two picrate anions as bidentate and monodentate ligands. The geometry is distorted tricapped trigonal prismatic. The mean planes of the two coordinated mono- and bidentate picrate ligands to the Gd(III) center are almost perpendicular to each other, as indicated by the dihedral angles of 89.92?(8) and 86.60?(8)° in the two complex cations. The ions are arranged in a two-dimensional network parallel to the ac plane. Short O?O and N?O contacts between the nitro groups, intra-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds, inter-molecular O-H?O, O-H?N and C-H?O hydrogen bonds, and two ?-? inter-actions between benzene rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.8073?(10)-3.9831?(10)?Å] are observed. The methanol solvent mol-ecule is disordered over two positions, with site-occupancy factors of ca 0.6 and 0.4.

The mol-ecules contain a fused five-ring system, with one tetra-hydro-furan ring adopting an envelope conformation, one tetra-hydro-pyran-2-one ring in a screw boat conformation, one cyclo-hexenone ring in a half-chair conformation and two cyclo-hexane rings in chair conformations. Intra-molecular C-H⋯O inter-actions generate S(5) ring motifs and an O-H⋯O inter-action generates an S(7) ring motif. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked via inter-molecular O-H⋯O inter-actions along the b axis and further stacked along a axis. The absolute configuration of the title compound was inferred from previously solved structures of its analogues.
