ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Zn(C(8)H(3)NO(6))(C(10)H(8)N(2)O(2))(H(2)O)(3)], the Zn(II) ion is coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by three water mol-ecules, one O atom from a 5-nitro-benzene-1,3-dicarboxyl-ate ligand and two O atoms from a chelating 2,2'-bipyridine N,N'-dioxide ligand. An extensive network of O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds is formed between the water mol-ecules and the carboxyl-ate groups. C-H⋯O inter-actions are also present.

Project description:In the title compound, [Ni(C(8)H(3)NO(6))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(3)]·H(2)O, the Ni(II) cation is six-coordinated by a chelating 2,2'-bipyridine ligand, one carboxyl-ate O atom from a 5-nitro-isophthalate dianion and three water mol-ecules, with a slightly distorted cis-NiN(2)O(4) octa-hedral geometry. The neutral complex is isolated, in contrast to coordination polymers formed by Mn(II), Co(II) and Cu(II) with the same ligand set, but forms an extensive network of O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the coordinated and uncoordinated water mol-ecules and carboxyl-ate groups of the 5-nitro-isophthalate ions.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title complex, [Cu(2)(C(9)H(4)O(6))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(4)](C(9)H(4)O(6))·C(10)H(8)N(2)·13H(2)O, comprises two formula units. The two Cu(II) centres are bridged by a 5-carb-oxy-benzene-1,3-dicarboxyl-ate (Hbtc) ligand. Each of the metal centres is bonded to four N atoms of two bidentate 2,2'-bipyridine ligands (bpy) and one O atom of the Hbtc ligand in a highly distorted square-pyramidal geometry. The secondary structure is stabilized by a variety of O-H?O hydrogen bonds and ?-? stacking inter-actions connecting the complex cations, Hbtc anions, bpy and water mol-ecules of crystallization. Three water molecules are disordered over two positions, with site occupancy factors of ca 0.8 and 0.2.

Project description:In the title compound, [Ni(C(9)H(4)O(6))(H(2)O)(3)](n), the Ni(II) ion has a distorted NiO(5) square-pyramidal geometry, the maximum deviation from the least-squares plane formed by the basal atoms being 0.9351 (13) Å. The basal plane is formed by two O atoms from carboxyl-ate residues of the 5-carb-oxy-benzene-1,3-dicarboxyl-ate ligand and by two O atoms from water mol-ecules. The O atom of the third water mol-ecule is axially positioned, 1.7890 (19) Å perpendicular to the basal plane. The 5-carb-oxy-benzene-1,3-dicarboxyl-ate ligand bridges the metal atoms, forming a polymeric chain along the b axis. O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the water mol-ecules and carboxyl-ate groups stabilize the crystal structure.

Project description:The title compound, {[Mn(3)(C(10)H(5)O(7))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]·H(2)O}(n), was synthesized under hydro-thermal conditions. Six carboxyl-ate groups of six 5-(carboxyl-atometh-oxy)benzene-1,3-dicarboxyl-ate anions (OABDC(3-)) join three Mn(II) ions into a trinuclear centrosymmetric [Mn(3)(μ(2)-COO)(6)] unit with one Mn site situated on a centre of inversion. The latter Mn(II) ion exhibits a distorted MnO(6) coordination, whereas the other Mn(II) ion has a trigonal-bipyramidal MnN(2)O(3) coordination environment resulting from three carboxylate O atoms and the two N atoms of the bipyridine ligand. Adjacent units are linked to each other by OABDC(3-) ligands into a layer parallel to (010). Within the layer, O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions involving the uncoordinated and half-occupied water mol-ecule and the free carboxyl-ate O atoms are observed. The layers stack along [010], constructing a three-dimensional structure through π-π inter-actions between adjacent pyridine rings, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.473 (5) Å.

Project description:The polymeric title compound, {[Bi(C(9)H(4)O(6))(NO(3))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(C(2)H(6)OS)]·C(2)H(6)OS}(n), was obtained by the reaction of bis-muth(III) nitrate, bipyridine (bpy) and 1,3,5-benzene-tricarb-oxy-lic acid (H(3)BTC). The Bi(III) ion is coordinated in a distorted tricapped trigonal-prismatic geometry, defined by two N atoms of the bipy ligand, four O atoms of two HBTC(2-) anions, two O atoms of a nitrate anion and one O atom of a dimethyl sulfoxide ligand. The crystal packing is stabilized by O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The S atom of the non-coordinating dimethyl sulfoxide mol-ecule is disordered over two sets of sites with refined site-occupancies of 0.430 (19) and 0.570 (19).

The Cu(2+) ion is six-coordinated by three water O atoms, and two N atoms and one O atom of the 2,2'-bipyridine-3,3'-dicarboxyl-ate bridging ligand in a sligthly distorted octa-hedral environment. The 2,2-bipyridine-3,3'-dicarboxyl-ate bridges link the Cu(2+) ions into chains along the b-axis direction. These chains are further linked by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving the water solvent mol-ecules, forming a three-dimensional framework.

Finally, three types of O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds exist between coordinated dissociative water mol-ecules and hybridization water mol-ecules and carboxyl-ate O atoms, resulting in a two-dimensional network parallel to (010).
