Poly[[triaqua-(μ(3)-pyridine-2,4,6-tri-car-boxyl-ato)gadolinium(III)] monohydrate].

ABSTRACT: The title compound, {[Gd(C(8)H(2)NO(6))(H(2)O)(3)]·H(2)O}(n), was obtained in water under hydro-thermal conditions. The Gd(III) ions are nine-coordinated by two O and one N atoms from one pyridine-2,4,6-tricarboxyl-ate ligand, two O atoms from another ligand, one O atom from a third ligand and three coordinated water mol-ecules. Each ligand binds three metal centers. Two-dimensional layers are formed through the Gd-O bonds and the layers are linked by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network.

The Tb(III) ion is nine coordinated by one N and five O atoms from three ptc ligands and by three O atoms from the three aqua ligands in a distorted bicapped trigonal-prismatic geometry. The ptc ligands bridge the Tb(III) ions into a two-dimensional polymeric framework parallel to (100). An extensive O-H?O hydrogen-bonding network consolidates the crystal packing.

Project description:The three-dimensional title coordination polymer, {[Tb(2)(C(8)H(2)NO(6))(2)(H(2)O)(5)]·H(2)O}(n), was hydro-thermally synthesized by reacting the corresponding rare-earth salt with pyridine-2,4,6-tricarb-oxy-lic acid (H(3)ptc). There are two independent Tb(III) atoms in the structure, one of which is nine-coordinated, forming a monocapped NO(8) square-anti-prism and the other is eight-coordinated exhibiting a 4,4-bicapped NO(7) trigonal-prismatic environment. The complex units are inter-connected through the ptc(3-) anions acting in different coordination modes, resulting in a three-dimensional coordin-ation polymer. The crystal structure features extensive O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

The ptc ligands brigde the Sm(III) ions into a three-dimensional polymeric framework. Extensive O-H?O hydrogen bonding is observed in the crystal structure.

The Na(I) atom is five-coordinated by two water O atoms and three carboxyl-ate O atoms in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. In the crystal, inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network.

The anions bridge adjacent Tm(III) ions into double chains. Adjacent chains are further connected into sheets. O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving both coordinated and uncoordinated water mol-ecules generate a three-dimensional supra-molecular framework.

Project description:The Cu atom in the title complex, {[Cu(C(6)H(2)N(2)O(4))(H(2)O)(3)]·H(2)O}(n) or {[Cu(L)(H(2)O)(3)]·H(2)O}(n) (L is pyrazine-2,3-dicarbox-yl-ate), displays octa-hedral coordination formed by the ligand L and three coordinated water mol-ecules. The ligand L is tridentate, with one N atom of the pyrazine ring and one O atom of one carboxyl-ate group forming a chelate ring, whereas one O atom from the second carboxyl-ate group is coordinated to another Cu atom. The ligand L links mol-ecules to form an infinite chain parallel to the [101] direction. The chains are further linked through O-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds involving the water mol-ecules to build up a three-dimensional network.

A carboxyl-ate O atom from the neighboring pyridine-2,4-dicarboxyl-ate dianion bridges the Mg cation to complete the MgNO(5) distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. The dinuclear complex mol-ecules are linked by inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding, forming a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.
