Poly[[triaqua-(μ(3)-pyridine-2,4,6-tri-car-boxyl-ato)gadolinium(III)] monohydrate].

ABSTRACT: The title compound, {[Gd(C(8)H(2)NO(6))(H(2)O)(3)]·H(2)O}(n), was obtained in water under hydro-thermal conditions. The Gd(III) ions are nine-coordinated by two O and one N atoms from one pyridine-2,4,6-tricarboxyl-ate ligand, two O atoms from another ligand, one O atom from a third ligand and three coordinated water mol-ecules. Each ligand binds three metal centers. Two-dimensional layers are formed through the Gd-O bonds and the layers are linked by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network.

The Tb(III) ion is nine coordinated by one N and five O atoms from three ptc ligands and by three O atoms from the three aqua ligands in a distorted bicapped trigonal-prismatic geometry. The ptc ligands bridge the Tb(III) ions into a two-dimensional polymeric framework parallel to (100). An extensive O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding network consolidates the crystal packing.

The ptc ligands brigde the Sm(III) ions into a three-dimensional polymeric framework. Extensive O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding is observed in the crystal structure.

Project description:The three-dimensional title coordination polymer, {[Tb(2)(C(8)H(2)NO(6))(2)(H(2)O)(5)]·H(2)O}(n), was hydro-thermally synthesized by reacting the corresponding rare-earth salt with pyridine-2,4,6-tricarb-oxy-lic acid (H(3)ptc). There are two independent Tb(III) atoms in the structure, one of which is nine-coordinated, forming a monocapped NO(8) square-anti-prism and the other is eight-coordinated exhibiting a 4,4-bicapped NO(7) trigonal-prismatic environment. The complex units are inter-connected through the ptc(3-) anions acting in different coordination modes, resulting in a three-dimensional coordin-ation polymer. The crystal structure features extensive O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title compound, {[NaTb(C(7)H(6)NO(2))(4)(H(2)O)(2)]·C(2)H(5)OH·H(2)O}(n), the Tb(III) atom is eight-coordinated in a slightly distorted square-anti-prismatic geometry defined by four carboxyl-ate O atoms and four pyridine N atoms. The bond lengths lie within the range 2.3000 (2)-2.326 (2) Å for the Tb-O bonds and 2.543 (3)-2.553 (3) Å for the Tb-N bonds. The Na(I) atom is five-coordinated by two water O atoms and three carboxyl-ate O atoms in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. In the crystal, inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network.

The bridging ligand results in an infinite chain. A network of O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds helps to establish the crystal structure.

Project description:In the title compound, {[Nd(3)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(3)(OH)(3)]·H(2)O}(n), the Nd(III) atom is eight-coordinated by the three O atoms of three asymmetrically μ(3)-bridging hydroxide groups, by four carboxyl-ate O atoms of four different pyridine-2,5-dicarboxyl-ate (2,5-pydc) ligands, and by the N atom of a 2,5-pydc ligand. Six Nd atoms are connected by six hydroxide groups, forming an [Nd(6)(μ(3)-OH)(6)] cluster unit of symmetry -3 and a slightly compressed octa-hedral geometry. Adjacent [Nd(6)(μ(3)-OH)(6)] clusters are connected by the 2,5-pydc ligands, via O and N atoms, forming chains along the c axis. The remaining O atoms of the 2,5-pydc ligands link these chains into a three-dimensional framework. A disordered water molecule, located on a threefold rotation axis at the opposite side of the [Nd(6)(μ(3)-OH)(6)] cluster and exposed to each of the three Nd atoms, completes the structure.

Project description:The reaction of the proton-transfer compound (pdaH(2))(py-3,5-dc)·H(2)O (pda = propane-1,3-diamine and py-3,5-dcH(2) = pyridine-3,5-dicarboxylic acid) with Ba(NO(3))(2) leads to the formation of the title polymeric compound, [Ba(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(H(2)O)(3)](n). The Ba(II) atom is nine-coordinated by six carboxyl-ate O atoms from the (py-3,5-dc)(2-) ligands, and three O atoms from the coordinated water mol-ecules. The coordination polyhedron around the Ba(II) atom is best described as tricapped trigonal-prismatic. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular inter-actions, such as X-H⋯O hydrogen bonds (X = O and C) and π-π stacking [centroid-centroid distances between pyridine rings of 3.6191 (13) and 3.6192 (13) Å] play an important role in stabilizing the supramolecular structure.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title coordination polymer, [Pb(2)(C(8)H(2)NO(6))(OH)](n), contains two crystallographically independent Pb(II) ions, one pyridine-2,4,6-tricarboxyl-ate (ptc) trianion and one hydroxide anion. One of the Pb(II) atoms is coordinated by one pyridine N and four carboxyl-ate O atoms from the ptc trianion and a hydroxide O atom in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The other Pb(II) atom is five-coordinated by three carboxyl-ate O atoms and two hydroxide O atoms in a distorted tetra-gonal-pyramidal geometry. Four neighbouring Pb(II) atoms are bridged through two μ(3)-hydroxide ligands, forming the centrosymmetric Pb(4)(OH)(2) core. The three-dimensional structure is further achieved through bridging carboxyl-ate groups. There are also O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the hydroxide ligand and the carboxyl-ate group.

Project description:The title compound, [Co(3)Na(2)(C(7)H(2)ClNO(4))(4)(H(2)O)(12)][Co(C(7)H(2)ClNO(4))(H(2)O)(3)](2)·6H(2)O, consists of a centrosymmetric dimer of [Co(II)(dipicCl)(2)](2-) complex dianions [dipicCl is 4-chloro-pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate] bridged by an [Na(2)Co(II)(H(2)O)(12)](4+) tetra-cationic cluster, two independent [Co(dipicCl)(H(2)O)(3)] complexes, and six water mol-ecules of crystallization. The metals are all six-coordinate with distorted octahedral geometries. The [Co(II)(dipicCl)(H(2)O)(3)] complexes are neutral, with one tridentate ligand and three water molecules. The [Co(II)(dipicCl)(2)](2-) complexes each have two tridentate ligands. The [Na(2)Co(II)(H(2)O)(12)](4+) cluster has a central Co(II) ion which is coordinated to six water molecules and lies on a crystallographic inversion center. Four of the water molecules bridge to two sodium ions, each of which have three other water molecules coordinated along with an O atom from the [Co(II)(dipicCl)(2)](2-) complex. In the crystal structure, the various units are linked by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. Two water molecules are disordered equally over two positions.

One Ce(III) cation is coordinated by seven carboxyl-ate O atoms from six pyd anions and two water mol-ecules in a square-face-capped square-anti-prismatic geometry. Another Ce(III) cation is coordinated by seven O atoms from six pdy anions and one water mol-ecule in a bicapped trigonal-prismatic geometry. The pdy anions bridge the Ce(III) cations, forming the three-dimensional polymeric structure. The crystal structure contains extensive O-H⋯O, O-H⋯N and weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. π-π stacking is present in the crystal structure, the shortest centroid-centroid distance between parallel pyridine rings being 3.509 (4) Å.
