Naphthalene-1,4,5,8-tetra-carboxylic acid 1,8-anhydride-4,4'-bipyridine (1/1).

ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(14)H(6)O(7)·C(10)H(8)N(2), has been hydro-thermally synthesized. Structural ananlysis indicates that the crystals are produced by cocrystallization of naphthalene-1,4,5,8-tetra-carboxylic acid 1,8-anhydride and 4,4'-bipyridine (bpy) mol-ecules. The crystal packing is stabilized by inter-molecular O-H⋯N and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.5846 (9) Å].

Project description:The title compound, C(10)H(8)N(2)·C(8)H(10)O(8), is an example of a system with a short O⋯H⋯N hydrogen bond [O⋯N = 2.565 (3) Å]. The crystal structure comprises a 1:1 adduct between 4,4'-bipyridine and butane-1,2,3,4-tetra-carboxylic acid, where both components are centrosymmetric. The component mol-ecules are linked through strong O⋯H⋯N hydrogen bonds, forming chains extending approximately along [11]. The chains are inter-connected by O⋯H⋯O hydrogen bonds and weak stacking inter-actions involving the pyridyl rings of the 4,4'-bipyridine mol-ecules [centroid-centroid distance = 3.73 (2) Å and inter-planar distance = 3.35 (1) Å]. The H atom of the short O⋯H⋯N hydrogen bond is disordered over two positions with site occupancy factors of ca 0.6 and 0.4. One methylene group is disordered over two positions; the site occupancy factors are ca 0.9 and 0.1.

Project description:The hydro-thermal reaction of butane-1,2,3,4-tetra-carboxylic acid (H(4)butca), 4,4'-bipyridine (bipy) and Mn(SO(4))(2)·H(2)O afforded a new co-crystal, C(8)H(10)O(8)·2C(10)H(8)N(2) or H(4)butca·2(bipy), in which strong O-H?N hydrogen-bonding and weak ?-? stacking [centroid-centroid distance = 3.8459?(19)?Å] inter-actions assemble the organic mol-ecules into a three-dimensional supra-molecular framework. C-H?O inter-actions are also present. The whole mol-ecule has inversion symmetry.

Project description:In the title centrosymmetric tetra-nuclear complex, [Mn(4)(C(12)H(6)O(4))(4)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(4)(H(2)O)(8)]·4H(2)O, two independent Mn(II) ions are coordinated in a slightly disorted octa-hedral environment by two aqua ligands, two naphthalene-1,8-dicarboxyl-ate (1,8-nap) ligands and one bis-chelating 2,2'-bipyridine (2,2'-bipy) ligand. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds into chains along [100]. These chains are further linked by weak ?-? inter-actions with centroid-centroid distances in the range of 3.609?(2)-3.758?(1)?Å, forming a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Project description:The title mol-ecule, C(14)H(14)O(3), contains two fused six-membered carbon rings with keto groups at positions 1, 4 and 5 and a gem-diethyl group at position 8. The mol-ecule is close to planar (maximum deviation = 0.044?Å), with one ethyl group at each side of the mol-ecular plane, with exception of the keto group at position 1 which is slightly deviated from the plane and disordered over two positions one on each side of it (occupancies 0.80/0.20). Project description:In the title complex, {[Zn(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(4)](C(10)H(6)O(6)S(2))}(n), the [Zn(4,4'-bipy)(H(2)O)(4)](2+) (4,4'-bipy is 4,4'-bipyridine) cations are linked into linear chains along [001] by the 4,4'-bipy ligands. The Zn(II) ion exhibits a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry in which the four water mol-ecules are in the equatorial positions. The anions are hydrogen bonded to the polycationic chains by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. The Zn(II) ion, 4,4'-bipy ligand and anion lie on special positions of 2/m site symmetry.

Project description:A new type of naphthalene-1,8-dicarb-oxy-lic anhydride, C(12)H(6)O(3), was synthesized hydro-thermally. Unlike the two previously reported polymorphs, which crystallize in the ortho-rhom-bic space groups P2(1)2(1)2(1) [Shok et al. (1971). Kristallografiya, 16, 500-502; Grigor'eva & Chetkina (1975). Kristallografiya, 20, 1289-1290] and Pbca [Shok & Gol'der (1970). Zh. Strukt. Khim.11, 939-940], this present structure crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2(1)/c. In this structure, the planar [total puckering amplitude Q = 0.0362 (15)] mol-ecules lie parallel to each other along the a axis.
