Catena-Poly[[[tetra-aqua-zinc(II)]-μ-4,4'-bipyridine-κN:N'] naphthalene-1,5-disulfonate].

ABSTRACT: In the title complex, {[Zn(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(4)](C(10)H(6)O(6)S(2))}(n), the [Zn(4,4'-bipy)(H(2)O)(4)](2+) (4,4'-bipy is 4,4'-bipyridine) cations are linked into linear chains along [001] by the 4,4'-bipy ligands. The Zn(II) ion exhibits a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry in which the four water mol-ecules are in the equatorial positions. The anions are hydrogen bonded to the polycationic chains by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. The Zn(II) ion, 4,4'-bipy ligand and anion lie on special positions of 2/m site symmetry.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, {[Co(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(4)](C(7)H(3)NO(4))·3H(2)O}(n), consists of Co(II) polymeric complex cations, uncoordinated pyridine-3,5-dicarboxyl-ate anions and lattice water mol-ecules. The Co(II) cation is coordinated by two N atoms from two 4,4'-bipyridine ligands and four water mol-ecules in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The 4,4'-bipyridine ligands bridge Co cations, forming a polymeric chain running along the b axis. The two pyridine rings of the 4,4'-biyridine are twisted to each other by a dihedral angle of 8.95 (9)°. Extensive O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding network is present in the crystal structure.

Project description:The triclinic unit cell of the title compound, [Ni(C(3)H(4)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(4)](C(10)H(6)O(6)S(2)), contains one centrosymmetric cation and one centrosymmetric anion. In the cation, the Ni(II) ion is six-coordinated by two imidazole ligands [Ni-N = 2.0568 (14) Å] and four water mol-ecules [both independent Ni-O distances are 2.098 (1) Å] in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. Inter-molecular O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds form an extensive three-dimensional network, which consolidates the crystal packing.

Project description:In the structure of the title compound, 2[Ag(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)](C(7)H(6)NO(2))(NO(3))·H(2)O, the Ag(I) atom is three-coordinated in a T-shaped configuration by two N atoms from two symmetry-related 4,4'-bipyridine (bipy) ligands at short distances and by one water O atom at a longer distance. Each bipy ligand bridges two neighbouring Ag(I) atoms, forming a chain structure extending parallel to [101]. The complete 4-amino-benzoate anion, the nitrate anion and the uncoordinated water mol-ecule are located on mirror planes: together with the coordinated water mol-ecule, they form N-H⋯O, O-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, stabilizing the crystal structure.

Project description:In the title compound, [Mo(2)(C(7)F(5)O(2))(4)(C(10)H(8)N(2))](n), the mol-ecule forms a paddle-wheel-type structure. Each Mo(2) (4+) unit is equatorially coordinated by four pentafluoro-benzoate groups, while the axial positions are occupied by two 4,4'-bipyridine mol-ecules. The Mo-Mo bond length of 2.1227 (4) Å is representative of a dimolybdenum quadruple bond. An infinite linear chain parallel to [110] is formed by the Mo(2) (4+) unit coordinating axially to the two N atoms of the 4,4'-bipyridine ligand [Mo-N = 2.594 (2) Å]. The crystal packing shows mol-ecules linked together into a three-dimensional network via Mo-N coordination inter-actions and weak π-π stacking inter-actions between perfluoro-phenyl rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.7280 (3) Å and centroid-to-plane distance = 3.6103 (12) Å between two penta-fluoro-phenyl rings].

The naphthalene-disulfonate anion is also centrosymmetric. The four chloride counter anions are half-occupied; the H atoms of the amino groups show an occupancy of 2/3. O-H⋯Cl, O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the complex cations and the chloride and naphthalene-1,5-disulfonate anions.
