(2,2'-Bipyridine-?N,N')dibromido-palladium(II) dichloro-methane solvate.

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [PdBr(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))]·CH(2)Cl(2), the Pd(2+) ion is four-coordinated in a slightly distorted square-planar environment by two N atoms of the chelating 2,2'-bipyridine ligand and two bromide ions. The compound displays intra-molecular C-H?Br hydrogen bonds and pairs of complex mol-ecules are assembled by inter-molecular C-H?Br hydrogen bonds. These pairs are connected by additional C-H?Br hydrogen bonds, forming a layer structure extending parallel to (011). Inter-molecular ?-? inter-actions between the pyridine rings of the ligand are also present, the shortest centroid-centroid distance being 4.090?(9)?Å.

Project description:In the title compound, [PdCl(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))]·CH(2)Cl(2), the Pd(2+) ion is four-coordinated in a slightly distorted square-planar environment by two N atoms of the 2,2'-bipyridine (bipy) ligand and two chloride ions. The compound displays intra-molecular C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds and pairs of complex mol-ecules are connected by inter-molecular C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds. Inter-molecular ?-? inter-actions are present between the pyridine rings of the ligand, the shortest centroid-centroid distance being 4.096?(3)?Å. As a result of the electronic nature of the chelate ring, it is possible to create ?-? inter-actions to its symmetry-related counterpart [3.720?(2)?Å] and also with a pyridine ring [3.570?(3)?Å] of the bipy unit. The present structure is a redetermination of a previous structure [Vicente et al. (1997 ?). Private communication (refcode PYCXMN02). CCDC, Cambridge, England]. In the new structure refinement all H atoms were located in a difference Fourier synthesis. Their coordinates were refined freely, together with isotropic displacement parameters.

Project description:In the title complex mol-ecule, [CdBr(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)], the Cd(II) ion is six-coordinated by two cis-arranged bromide anions and four N atoms of two bidentate 2,2'-bipyridine ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The dihedral angle formed by the mean planes through the bipyridine ligands is 87.01?(11)°. In the crystal packing, ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.837?(6) and 3.867?(11)?Å] link adjacent complex mol-ecules into chains running parallel to the b axis. The chains are further connected by inter-molecular C-H?Br hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The unit cell of the title compound, [Mn(2)(C(2)O(4))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(4)](ClO(4))(2)·C(10)H(8)N(2), consists of a binuclear cation, two perchlor-ate anions, and one solvent 2,2'-bipyridine (bpy) mol-ecule. In the complex cation [Mn(2)(C(2)O(4))(C(10)N(2)H(8))(4)](2+), two Mn(II) atoms are bridged by a bis-(bidentate) oxalate ligand, each Mn(II) atom being further coordinated by two bpy ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The distance between the two six-coordinated metal atoms is 5.583?(1)?Å. ?-? stacking inter-actions [inter-planar distances between bpy rings = 3.739?(1)?Å] are essential to the supramolecular assembly. There are extensive inter-ionic C-H?O inter-actions between the cations and between the cation and anion. Three of the four perchlorate O atoms are disordered over two sets of sites with occupancy ratios of 0.852?(6):0.148?(6).
