ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title complex, [PdI(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))], contains one half of the formula unit. The Pd(2+) ion is located on a twofold rotation axis and is four-coordinated in a slightly distorted square-planar environment by two N atoms of the chelating 2,2'-bipyridine ligand and two iodide ions. The compound displays inter-molecular ?-? inter-actions between the pyridine rings of the ligand, the shortest centroid-centroid distance being 4.220?(4)?Å.

The compound displays intra-molecular C-H?Br hydrogen bonds and pairs of complex mol-ecules are assembled by inter-molecular C-H?Br hydrogen bonds. These pairs are connected by additional C-H?Br hydrogen bonds, forming a layer structure extending parallel to (011). Inter-molecular ?-? inter-actions between the pyridine rings of the ligand are also present, the shortest centroid-centroid distance being 4.090?(9)?Å.

Project description:In the title compound, [PdCl(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))]·CH(2)Cl(2), the Pd(2+) ion is four-coordinated in a slightly distorted square-planar environment by two N atoms of the 2,2'-bipyridine (bipy) ligand and two chloride ions. The compound displays intra-molecular C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds and pairs of complex mol-ecules are connected by inter-molecular C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds. Inter-molecular ?-? inter-actions are present between the pyridine rings of the ligand, the shortest centroid-centroid distance being 4.096?(3)?Å. As a result of the electronic nature of the chelate ring, it is possible to create ?-? inter-actions to its symmetry-related counterpart [3.720?(2)?Å] and also with a pyridine ring [3.570?(3)?Å] of the bipy unit. The present structure is a redetermination of a previous structure [Vicente et al. (1997 ?). Private communication (refcode PYCXMN02). CCDC, Cambridge, England]. In the new structure refinement all H atoms were located in a difference Fourier synthesis. Their coordinates were refined freely, together with isotropic displacement parameters.

A second monoclinic polymorph of bis-(2,2'-bipyridine-?N,N')diiodido-manganese(II).

Project description:The Mn(II) ion in the title complex, [MnI(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)], is six-coordinated in a distorted cis-N(4)I(2)Mn octa-hedral environment by four N atoms of the two chelating 2,2'-bipyridine ligands and two iodide anions. As a result of the different trans effects of the N and I atoms, the Mn-N bonds trans to the I atom are slightly longer than the Mn-N bonds trans to the N atom. The dihedral angle between the approximately planar ligands [maximum deviation = 0.064?(7)?Å] is 75.0?(1)°. Numerous inter- and intra-molecular ?-? inter-actions between the pyridyl rings are present, the shortest centroid-centroid distance being 3.905?(5)?Å. The structure reported herein represents a new monoclinic polymorph of the previously reported monoclinic (P2(1)/c) form [Ha (2011 ?). Z. Kristallogr. New Cryst. Struct.226, 187-188].

Project description:In the title salt, [Pd(C(10)H(8)N(2))(C(6)H(6)NO)(2)](PF(6))(2), the Pd(II) atom is in a slightly distorted square-planar coordination environment by N atoms derived from two 4-pyridine-carboxamide ligands, in a cis disposition, and a chelating 2,2'-bipyridine mol-ecule. The monodentate ligands are nearly orthogonal to each other [dihedral angle = 85.7?(5)°] and to the PdN(4) plane [dihedral angles = 79.3?(3) and 78.7?(3)°]. The amide O atoms lie to opposite sides of the PdN(4) plane. The most notable feature of the crystal packing is a linear supra-molecular chain orientated approximately along [310] and formed via 16-membered {?HNCO}(4) motifs. These are connected into a three-dimensional network by amide-H?O, F inter-actions. Both PF(6) (-) anions are disordered over two positions of equal occupancy in respect of the F atoms.

Project description:The title complex, [Cd(C(2)HN(9))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]·0.5C(10)H(8)N(2)·H(2)O, was prepared under hydro-thermal reaction conditions. The asymmetric unit contains the cadmium complex, half a 2,2'-bipyridine solvent mol-ecule and a solvent water mol-ecule. The Cd(II) ion is coordinated by four N atoms from two 2,2'-bipyridine ligands and two N atoms from an HBTA(-) anion ligand [where H(2)BTA is N,N-bis-(1H-tetra-zol-5-yl)amine], forming an octa-hedral geometry. The complex is linked into a three-dimensional network by O-H⋯N and N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds and by the stacking inter-actions of rings, with distances of 3.5-3.7 Å between the atoms of two parallel 2,2'-bipyridine rings.

The disulfanediyldibenzo-ate dianion bridges two Ni(II )atoms. Adjacent mol-ecules are linked through the coordinated water mol-ecules, forming a O-H?O hydrogen-bonded chain running along the a axis.

The Cu atom displays a cis-CuN(2)O(2) square-planar geometry, although two long (> 2.43?Å) Cu?O contacts complete a distorted cis-CuN(2)O(4) octa-hedron. Extensive C-H?O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network.
