ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Zn(CH(3))(2)(C(15)H(11)N(3))], was synthesized by the addition of dimethyl-zinc to 2,2':6',2''-terpyridine and was crystallized by the slow evaporation of THF. The penta-coordinate Zn(II) atom, lying on a twofold rotation axis, displays a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry, with two terminal N atoms at the axial positions and the central N atom and two methyl C atoms at the equatorial positions.

Project description:In the title compound, [Zn(CH(3)COO)(2)(C(28)H(21)N(3)O)], the Zn(II) ion is in a trigonal-bipyramidal ZnN(3)O(2) coordination with a tridentate N-chelating 4'-[4-(benz-yloxy)phen-yl)-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine ligand in the equatorial position and two acetate anions in the axial positions. The three pyridine rings are approximately coplanar, with a maximum deviation of 0.03?Å from the mean plane. The phen-oxy substituent makes a dihedral angle of 18.1?(2)° with the central pyridine ring. The benzyl group has a C-O-C-C torsion angle of 77.62?(8)° relative to the phen-oxy ring. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked via C-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The Pd(II) atom in the complex cation of the title compound, [PdCl(C(21)H(16)N(4))]Cl, is coordinated by three N atoms derived from the terpyridine ligand and a chloride ion, which define a distorted PdClN(3) square-planar coordination geometry. The Zn(II) centre is coordinated by three N atoms from a chelating 2,2':6',2''-terpyridine ligand and two O atoms from two 2,2'-oxydibenzoate ligands, forming a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal coordination environment. Further coordination via the 2,2'-oxydibenzoate anions forms a one-dimensional coordination polymer extending parallel to [010]. Project description:The title complex, [Co(C(22)H(14)N(4))(2)]Cl(2), has been synthesized by a solvothermal reaction of the 4'-(4-cyano-phen-yl)-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine ligand with CoCl(2)·6H(2)O. The cobalt(II) ion is six-coordinated by two tridentate ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The benzene rings form dihedral angles of 30.02?(7) and 30.26?(7)° with the mean planes of the terpyridine ring systems. The chloride anions are statistically disordered over two positions with refined site occupancies of 0.601?(2) and 0.399?(2).

Project description:The title heteroleptic bis--terpyridine complex, [Ru(C(15)H(11)N(3))(C(17)H(11)N(3))](PF(6))(2)·2CH(3)CN, crystallized from an acetonitrile solution as a salt containing two hexa-fluoridophosphate counter-ions and two acetonitrile solvent mol-ecules. The Ru(II) atom has a distorted octa-hedral geometry due to the restricted bite angle [157.7?(3)°] of the two mer-arranged N,N',N''-tridendate ligands, viz. 2,2':6',2''-terpyridine (tpy) and 4'-ethynyl-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine (tpy'), which are essentially perpendicular to each other, with a dihedral angle of 87.75?(12)° between their terpyridyl planes. The rod-like acetyl-ene group lies in the same plane as its adjacent terpyridyl moiety, with a maximum deviation of only 0.071?(11)?Å from coplanarity with the pyridine rings. The mean Ru-N bond length involving the outer N atoms trans to each other is 2.069?(6)?Å at tpy and 2.070?(6)?Å at tpy'. The Ru-N bond length involving the central N atom is 1.964?(6)?Å at tpy and 1.967?(6)?Å at tpy'. Two of the three counter anions were refined as half-occupied.

Project description:The title compound, C(22)H(14)F(3)N(3), is a versatile tridentate N-donor ligand consisting of a terpyridyl (terpy) molecule substituted in the 4'-position by a phenyl group, itself substituted in an ortho-position by a bulky trifluoro-methyl group. The phenyl ring is twisted as a result of steric inter-actions involving the bulky trifluoro-methyl substituent. This is reflected in the dihedral angle between the mean plane through the C atoms of the phenyl ring and the terpyridyl unit being 69.2?(1)°. The crystal structure contains no short van der Waals contacts. However, the terpy units stack in a head-to-tail orientation perpendicular to the c axis. The structure is is loosely stabilized by ?-? inter-actions between the terminal pyridine rings of adjacent mol-ecules along the stack. The perpendicular distance between the mean planes through the terpy moieties of adjacent mol-ecules is 3.4?(1)?Å.
