In the crystal structure, inter-molecular O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds form extended chains along [100] and [01], creating a two-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title compound, 2C(4)H(7)N(2) (+)·C(4)H(2)O(4) (2-)·2H(2)O, the asymmetric unit consists of one 2-methyl-imidazolium cation, half a fumarate dianion and one water mol-ecule. There is an inversion center at the mid-point of the central C-C bond of the fumarate anion. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are linked into a three-dimensional network by inter-molecular N-H?O, O-H?O and weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds. In addition, there are weak ?-? stacking inter-actions with centroid-centroid distances of 3.640?(1)?Å.

Ammonium imidazolium dichromate.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, (C(3)H(5)N(2))(NH(4))[Cr(2)O(7)], the anions and cations are linked through N-H?O hydrogen bonds, resulting in a three-dimensional structure which contains three kinds of layers parallel to (001). One layer contains imidazole cations, the other two layers the ammonium cations and dichromate anions. The dichromate anion has an eclipsed conformation with a dihedral angle of 14.65?(18)° between the mean planes of the O-P-O-P-O backbone.

Transcriptional toxicity of imidazolium- and cholinium-based ionic liquids

Project description:Ionic Liquids are a broad group of salts with low melting points that can be specifically tuned for a broad range of applications. Despite being initially considered “green” solvents, their better environmental friendliness compared to traditional solvents has been increasingly challenged. In this study, we aimed to investigate the molecular effects of ILs exposure by using RNA-sequencing to study differential gene expression patterns. Thus, we exposed Daphnia magna to 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride ([C2mim]Cl), 1-dodecyl chloride-3-methylimidazolium ([C12mim]Cl) and cholinium chloride ([Chol]Cl). Results suggest that the three ILs share several mechanisms of toxicity, including cellular membrane and cytoskeleton damage, oxidative stress, inhibition of antioxidant enzymes, mitochondrial affectation, changes in protein biosynthesis and energy production, DNA damage, and ultimately, programmed cell death and disease initiation. Overall, the dataset revealed that [C2mim]Cl and [C12mim]Cl were, respectively, the least and the most toxic ILs at the transcriptional level. Also, it is reinforced that [Chol]Cl is not devoid of environmental hazardous potential. Unique gene expression signatures could also be identified for each IL.

Project description:In the title salt {systematic name: 4-diphenyl-methyl-1-[(E)-3-phenyl-prop-2-en-1-yl]piperazin-1-ium (2Z)-3-carb-oxy-prop-2-enoate}, C26H29N2(+)·C4H3O4(-), the piperazine ring in the cation adopts a distorted chair conformation and contains a positively charged N atom with quaternary character. The dihedral angle between the mean planes of the phenyl rings of the diphenyl-methyl group is 74.2?(7)° and those between these rings and the phenyl ring of the 3-phenyl-prop-2-en-1-yl group are 12.7?(9) and 80.6?(8)°. In the crystal, N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds form chains along [001]. Weak C-H?O inter-actions connect parallel chains along [010], forming layers perpendicular to the a-axis direction.

Project description:In both ionic components of the title salt, C(4)H(7)N(2) (+)·C(6)H(2)N(3)O(7) (-), the rings are approximately planar; the maximum deviation from the mean plane is an order of magnitude larger in the picrate ring [0.0289?(10)?Å] than in the imidazolium ring [0.0028?(10)?Å. The nitro groups are twisted with respect to the six-atom ring plane; the NO(2) groups next to the oxide O atom, at the 2- and 6-positions, are twisted more [by 53.59?(9) and 18.46?(12)°] than the NO(2) group at the 4-postition, for which the twist angle is 7.28?(16)°.
