Bis(2,2'-bipyridine-κN,N')chloridocobalt(II) perchlorate.

ABSTRACT: In the cation of the title compound, [CoCl(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]ClO(4), the Co(II) atom displays a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal coordination geometry. The two pyridine rings in each 2,2'-bipyridine ligand form dihedral angles of 10.75 (12) and 4.28 (13)°. The crystal packing is stabilized by inter-ionic C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, C-H⋯π inter-actions and aromatic π-π stacking inter-actions, with centroid-centroid distances of 3.616 (7) Å.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of title compound, [Cu(NCS)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]ClO(4), contains a bis-(2,2'-bipyridine)(isothio-cyanato)copper(II) cation and a perchlorate anion. In the cation, the Cu(2+) ion is coordinated by four N atoms from two bidentate 2,2'-bipyridine mol-ecules and an N atom from an isothio-cyanate anion, resulting in a distorted CuN(5) pyramidal configuration. The crystal structure is stabilized by weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O and C-H⋯S hydrogen bonds, and weak π-π inter-actions between 2,2'-bipyridine rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.908 (4) Å]. The perchlorate counteranion is disordered over two positions in a 0.66:0.34 ratio.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(NO(3))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]ClO(4), the five-coordinated Cu(II) atom has a distorted square-pyramidal CuN(4)O environment; the O atom is in the axial position whereas the N atoms from two bipyridine (bipy) ligands are in the equatorial plane. In the crystal, mol-ecules are assembled by C-H⋯O hydrogen bonding and π-π inter-actions between bipy groups [centroid-centroid distances = 3.7686 (16) and 3.7002 (16) Å] into a three-dimensional network. The nitrite anion is equally disordered over two sets of sites.

Project description:The title mixed aqua-fluoride complex, [CrF(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)](ClO(4))(2)·2H(2)O, has been synthesized by aqua-tion of the corresponding difluoride complex using lanthan-ide(III) ions as F(-) acceptors. The complex crystallizes with a Cr(III) ion at the center of a distorted octa-hedral coordination polyhedron with a cis arrangement of ligands. The crystal packing shows a hydrogen-bonding pattern involving water mol-ecules, the coordinated F atom and the perchlorate anions.

Project description:The unit cell of the title compound, [Mn(2)(C(2)O(4))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(4)](ClO(4))(2)·C(10)H(8)N(2), consists of a binuclear cation, two perchlor-ate anions, and one solvent 2,2'-bipyridine (bpy) mol-ecule. In the complex cation [Mn(2)(C(2)O(4))(C(10)N(2)H(8))(4)](2+), two Mn(II) atoms are bridged by a bis-(bidentate) oxalate ligand, each Mn(II) atom being further coordinated by two bpy ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The distance between the two six-coordinated metal atoms is 5.583?(1)?Å. ?-? stacking inter-actions [inter-planar distances between bpy rings = 3.739?(1)?Å] are essential to the supramolecular assembly. There are extensive inter-ionic C-H?O inter-actions between the cations and between the cation and anion. Three of the four perchlorate O atoms are disordered over two sets of sites with occupancy ratios of 0.852?(6):0.148?(6).

Project description:The title compound, [Ni(C(5)O(5))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)], lies across a crystallographic twofold axis, around which two 2,2'-bipyridine (2,2'-bipy) ligands are arranged in a propeller manner. The local geometry of the NiN(4)O(2) coordination core basically adopts an octa-hedral geometry. The mol-ecular twofold axis is along the direction of the mol-ecular dipole moment, and the complex is packed with its dipole moment alternately along the +b and -b directions. The crystal structure is stabilized by inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The central CuN(2)O(4) motif of the title compound, [Cu(ClO(4))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(2)], exhibits a Jahn-Teller-distorted octa-hedral geometry around the metal atom, showing a considerably long Cu-O bond distance of 2.5058 (12) Å towards the second perchlorate group, giving a (4 + 1+1)-type coordination mode. In the crystal, the components are linked via inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming layers parallel to (001). Additional stabilization within these layers is provided by π-π [centroid-centroid distances of 3.7848 (9)-4.4231 (9) Å] stacking inter-actions.

Project description:The title compound, trans-[Ru(bpy)(2)(H(2)O)(2)](CF(3)SO(3))(2) (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine, C(10)H(8)N(2)), crystallized from the decomposition of an aged aqueous solution of a dimeric complex of cis-Ru(bpy)(2) in 0.1 M triflic acid. The Ru(II) ion is located on a crystallographic inversion center and exhibits a distorted octa-hedral coordination with equivalent ligands trans to each other. The Ru-O distance is 2.1053 (16) Å and the Ru-N distances are 2.0727 (17) and 2.0739 (17) Å. The bpy ligands are bent, due to inter-ligand steric inter-actions between H atoms of opposite pyridyl units across the Ru center. The crystal structure exhibits an extensive hydrogen-bonding network involving the water ligands and the trifluoromethane-sulfonate counter-ions within two-dimensional layers, although no close hydrogen-bond inter-actions exist between different layers.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title salt, [Mn(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(4)][Mn(2)(C(8)H(3)O(7)S)(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(4)]·4H(2)O, consists of mononuclear manganese(II) cations, dinuclear manganate(II) dianions and uncoordinated water mol-ecules. The dianion is located about an inversion center; the Mn(II) atom is coordinated by a 2,2'-bipyridine ligand, a sulfonatoisophthalate group, a water mol-ecule along with two bridging water mol-ecules in an octa-hedral geometry. The cation lies on a twofold rotation axis; the Mn(II) atom is coordinated by four water mol-ecules and a chelating 2,2'-bipyridine ligand in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. A partially overlapped arrangement between the bipyridine ligands and the aromatic ring of the sulfoisophthalate group of adjacent anions is observed; the distance (3.357 Å) indicates π-π stacking. Hydrogen bonds, with the water mol-ecules serving as hydrogen-bond donors, lead to a three-dimensional network architecture.

Project description:The title compound, [Ni(C(4)H(2)O(4))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]·7.34H(2)O, was obtained by crystallization from an aqueous ethano-lic reaction mixture containing nickel(II) acetate, maleic acid, bipyridine, sodium hydroxide and ammonia. The asymmetric unit contains one independent complex mol-ecule and 7.34 water mol-ecules occupying eight crystallographically independent positions. Two of these water molecules are disordered. The nickel(II) atom is coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by two O atoms from one carboxyl-ate group of the maleato ligand and by four N atoms from two 2,2'-bipyridine (bipy) ligands. The water mol-ecules, along with the O atoms of the uncoordinated carboxyl-ate group, form an extended hydro-philic three-dimensional hydrogen-bonded system with large cavities in which the hydro-phobic bipy ligands are located. One H atom of the maleate ligand is involved in a weak hydrogen bond of the C-H⋯O type. Stacking inter-actions between the pyridyl rings of the bipy ligands [centroid-centroid distance = 3.549 (15) Å] lead to the formation of pairs of complex mol-ecules.
