Project description:The title complex, [Fe(2)(C(2)H(5)S)(3)(C(12)H(21)Si)(2)], has an unusual Fe(2)S(3) core. The two 1,2,3,4-tetra-methyl-5-(trimethyl-silyl)cyclo-penta-dienyl (Cp') ligands coordinate to the Fe atoms with their C(5) planes perpendicular [dihedral angles = 88.23?(7) and 88.55?(7)°] to the Fe-Fe vector, building two Cp'Fe subunits. These two subunits are bridged by three thiol-ate ligands. There are no significant differences in the coordination geometries between the two Fe atoms. The short Fe-Fe distance of 2.7842?(5)?Å is clear evidence of an inter-metallic bond. Such a diiron-sulfur structure might act as a model of active sites in some metalloproteins.

The remaining coordination sites are occupied by two N atoms of a 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and two O atoms of a 6-hydroxy-naphthalene-1-carboxyl-ate ligand. The crystal packing is stabilized by O-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, (CH(6)N(3))(2)[Zn(2)(C(6)H(5)O(7))(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·2H(2)O, contains one-half of a centrosymmetric dizinc(II) complex anion, one guanidinium cation and one water mol-ecule. Each Zn(II) ion is hexa-coordinated by two citrate anions, one in a bidentate fashion and the second monodentate, and two water mol-ecules in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. Intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds add further stability to the mol-ecular structure. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are linked into a three-dimensional framework by inter-molecular N-H⋯O, O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, [Mn(C(10)H(6)NO(2))(2)(CH(4)O)(2)], was obtained unintentionally as the product of an attempt to synthesize a polynuclear carboxyl-ate bridged manganese(III/IV) complex, using methanol to reduce the permanganate ion. The mol-ecule is centrosymmetric; the pairs of equivalent ligands coordinate trans to each other in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. Intra-molecular C-H⋯O bonds lying in the equatorial plane stabilize the mol-ecule. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, creating a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure. π-π and C-H⋯π inter-actions are also observed. The dihedral angle and centroid-to-centroid distance between the pyridine ring (A) and the benzene ring (B(i)) of a symmetrically related mol-ecule [symmetry code: (i) -1 - x, -y, -z] are 1.27 (11)° and 3.974 (2) Å, respectively. For the C-H⋯π inter-actions, the relevant distances and angles are: C⋯Cg[A(ii)] = 3.643 (2) Å, H⋯Cg[A(ii)] = 2.750 (2) Å and C-H⋯Cg[A(ii)] = 155 (1)° [symmetry code: (ii) x, -1 + y, z].

Project description:The trinuclear title compound, [Fe3(C3H6S2)2(CO)7], is a mixed-valent Fe(I)/Fe(II) complex and crystallizes with two mol-ecules of similar configuration in the asymmetric unit. The three Fe atoms in each mol-ecule display a bent arrangement [Fe-Fe-Fe = 156.22 (4) and 157.06 (3)°]. Both outer Fe(I) atoms are six-coordinated in a distorted ocahedral coordination geometry defined by the bridging Fe(II) atom, three carbonyl C atoms and two bridging S atoms. The coordination number of the central Fe(II) atom is seven and includes bonding to the two outer Fe(I) atoms, four bridging S atoms and one carbonyl C atom. The resulting coordination polyhedron might be described as a highly distorted monocapped trigonal prism. In the crystal packing, the mol-ecules exhibit a chain-like arrangement parallel to [100] and [001], and the resulting layers are stacked along [010]. The cohesion of the structure is dominated by van der Waals inter-actions.

Project description:The reaction of nickel(II) nitrate hexa-hydrate, guanidine (G) and 4-hydroxy-pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid (hypydcH(2)) in a 1:2:2 molar ratio in aqueous solution resulted in the formation of the title compound, (CH(6)N(3))(2)[Ni(C(7)H(3)NO(5))(2)]·2H(2)O or (GH)(2)[Ni(hypydc)(2)]·2H(2)O. The six donor atoms of the two 4-hydroxy-pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate or (hypydc)(2-) ligands form a distorted octa-hedral arrangement around the Ni(II) centre. Considerable C-O⋯π stacking inter-actions between the CO groups of carboxyl-ate fragments and the pyridine rings of (hypydc)(2-) with a distance of 3.3212 (8) Å are observed. In the crystal structure, a wide range of noncovalent inter-actions consisting of hydrogen bonding (of the types O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O), ion pairing, and π-π [centroid-centroid distance 3.8037 (5) Å], N-H⋯π and C-O⋯π stacking inter-actions connect the various components into a supra-molecular structure.

Project description:The title compound, (C(13)H(10)N)(2)[Co(C(6)H(2)N(2)O(4))(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·6H(2)O, consists of mononuclear trans-[Co(pz-2,3-dc)(2)(H(2)O)(2)](2-) complex anions, (acrH)(+) cations and uncoordinated water mol-ecules (acr is acridine and pz-2,3-dcH(2) is pyrazine-2,3-dicarboxylic acid). The Co(II) atom, which lies on a crystallographic center of symmetry, has a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination environment, with two N and two O atoms from the (pz-2,3-dc)(2-) ligands in the equatorial plane and with two water mol-ecules in axial positions. In the crystal, the components are held together by two distinct N-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds with R(2) (2)(8) graph-sets. The coordinated and uncoordinated water mol-ecules are also involved in O-H?O hydrogen bonds, which lead to the formation of layers with R(3) (3)(12) graph-set motifs. Extensive ?-? stacking inter-actions between parallel aromatic rings of the acridinium ions, with distances ranging from 3.533?(1) to 3.613?(1)?Å, occur in the structure.

Project description:In the mononuclear title compound, [Ni(C(2)H(6)O(7)P(2))(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))]·H(2)O, the Ni(II) atom (site symmetry 2) is bonded to two phosphate-based O,O'-bidentate chelate ligands and one N,N'-bidentate 1,10-phenanthroline ligand, resulting in a slightly distorted cis-NiN(2)O(4) octa-hedral geometry. In the crystal structure, pairs of complexes are linked by double hydrogen bonds, forming a one-dimensional chain-like structure. Aromatic π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid separation = 3.768 (2) Å] and further hydrogen bonds generate a two-dimensional structure. The water O atom also lies on a crystallographic twofold axis.

One of the pendant -(CH(2))(3)OH groups of the ligand is disordered over two sets of sites in a 0.597?(5):0.403?(5) ratio. In the crystal, O-H?Cl and O-H?O hydrogen bonding helps to establish the packing.
