Hexaaqua-cobalt(II) 5,5'-(propane-1,3-diyldithio)bis-(1H-tetra-zole-1-acetate).

ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title complex, [Co(H(2)O)(6)](C(9)H(10)N(8)O(4)S(2)), contains one-half of a [Co(H(2)O)(6)](2+) cation and one-half of a 5,5'-(propane-1,3-diyldithio)bis-(1H-tetra-zole-1-acetate) (battp(2-)) anion. The Co(II) center is coordinated by six H(2)O mol-ecules in a distorted octa-hedral coordination environment. In the crystal structure, intra- and inter-molecular O-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonds link the cations and anions into a three-dimensional network. ?-? contacts between the tetra-zole rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.346?(1)?Å] may further stabilize the structure.

Project description:Crystals of the title organic compound, C(8)H(6)N(8), were generated in situ through the [2 + 3]-cyclo-addition reaction involving the precursor 1,4-dicyano-benzene and azide in water with Zn(2+) as Lewis acid. The asymmetric unit consists of one half-mol-ecule, and a twofold axis of symmetry passes through the centre of the benzene ring. There is an inter-molecular N-H?N hydrogen bond. The mol-ecules are assembled into a three-dimensional supra-molecular framework by ?-? stacking inter-actions, with a perpendicular distance of 3.256?Å [centroid-centroid = 3.9731?(8)?Å] between two tetra-zole ring planes, and 3.382?Å between the benz-ene ring and tetra-zole ring planes [centroid-centroid = 3.5010?(9)?Å].

An intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bond forms a six-membered ring, producing an S(6) ring motif. The imino group is coplanar with the benzene ring. The two benzene rings are almost perpendicular to each other, making a dihedral angle of 87.38?(4)°. In the crystal structure, neighbouring mol-ecules are linked along the c axis by weak inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds and are further packed into columns along the b axis, forming sheets which are parallel to the bc plane.

Project description:The title compound C(6)H(12)N(4), is one of a few known tetra-zoles with an alkyl chain in the 5-position. The asymmetric unit contains two independent mol-ecules. The mol-ecules are linked by N-H?N inter-actions into chains with graph-set notation D(2) and C(2) (2)(8) along [010]. The two independent mol-ecules form a layered structure, the layers being composed of inter-digitating strands of alternatingly oriented and nearly identical mol-ecules.

Intra-molecular N-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds occur. In the crystal, N-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds forming a three-dimensional network.
