Project description:In the title compound, C(14)H(8)N(2)O(8)S(2), the asymmetric unit contains two independent 2,2'-dinitro-5,5'-dithio-dibenzoic acid (Dina) mol-ecules with roughly the same conformation. In the crystal structure, strong inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the organic mol-ecules into a one-dimensional zigzag chain along the a axis. The dihedral angles between the two aromatic rings [109.3 (2) and 103.1 (3)°] are larger than that (88.95°) observed in a structure of the compound with a solvent water mol-ecule [Shefter & Kalman (1969), J. Chem. Soc. D, p. 1027]. Such a difference may be explained by the occurrence of O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving the water mol-ecule in the previously reported structure.

Project description:The dianion of the title salt, 2C(5)H(6)N(+)·C(12)H(6)N(2)O(4)S(2) (2-), lies on a special position of 2 site symmetry that relates one thio-nicotinate part to the other, and the dihedral angle between the niotinate planes is 89.2 (2)°. The pyridinium cations are hydrogen bonded to the carboxyl-ate group by way of N-H⋯O links.

2,2'-Dithio-dianiline: a redetermination at 100?K.

Project description:STRUCTURAL STUDIES OF THE TITLE COMPOUND [SYSTEMATIC NAME: 2,2'-(disulfanedi-yl)dianiline], C(12)H(12)N(2)S(2), were previously performed at room temperature [Gomes de Mesquita (1967 ?). Acta Cryst.23, 671; Lee & Bryant (1970 ?). Acta Cryst. B26, 1729; Ribar et al. (1975 ?). Bull. Yugoslav. Crystallogr. Centre, A10, 68]. The results of the current redetermination allow a clarification of the nature of the intra- and inter-molecular N-H?S hydrogen bonding described in the literature for this compound. On cooling to 100?K, the unit cell contracts most in the c axis, and it changes rather less in the directions involving the strongly hydrogen-bonded chains, which are the a and b axes. In the crystal structure, N-H?N hydrogen bonds link neighbouring mol-ecules into two-dimensional frameworks parallel to the ab plane. An additional inter-molecular N-H?S hydrogen bond has also been established, based on freely refined H-atom positions. Inter-molecular C-H?? inter-actions further stabilize the crystal structure.

A triclinic modification of 5,5'-dinitro-2,2'-dithio-dipyridine.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(10)H(6)N(4)O(4)S(2), contains two independent but similar mol-ecules. The structure is a triclinic polymorph of the monoclinic structure reported previously [Brito, Mundaca, Cárdenas, López-Rodríguez & Vargas (2007 ▶). Acta Cryst. E63, o3351-o3352]. The most obvious difference between the two polymorphs is the C-S-S-C torsion angle [-80.13 (16), -79.8 (2) and 0° for the two mol-ecules of the triclinic polymorph and the monoclinic polymorph, respectively]. The crystal structure of the title compound has two intra-molecular C-H⋯S inter-actions with average H⋯S distances of 2.69 Å, whereas this kind of inter-action is not evident in the monoclinic polymorph.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title co-crystal, C(14)H(14)N(4)S(2)·C(14)H(10)O(4)S(2), comprises a twisted 2,2'-(disulfanedi-yl)dibenzoic acid mol-ecule [dihedral angle between the benzene rings = 83.53 (14)°] and a U-shaped mol-ecule of N,N'-bis-(4-pyridyl-meth-yl)ethane-dithio-amide in which intra-molecular N-H⋯S hydrogen bonds are observed. Two mol-ecules of each form a centrosymmetric ring, with an extended chair conformation, mediated by carbox-yl-pyridine O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds between the carboxylic acid groups of two 2,2'-(disulfanediyl)dibenzoic acid molecules and pyridine-N atoms of two N,N'-bis(4-pyridylmethyl)ethanedithioamide molecules. The tetra-meric aggregates are linked into a supra-molecular chain along the b axis via amide-carbonyl N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(C(2)H(8)N(2))(2)](C(12)H(6)N(2)O(4)S(2))·1.5H(2)O, there are two half-molecules of the cationic complex in the asymmetric unit. The Cu(2+) ions lie on inversion centres and are octa-hedrally coordinated by two ethyl-enediamine (en) and two aqua ligands in a typical Jahn-Teller distorted environment with the water O atoms in the axial positions. Two 2-mercaptonicotinate units (mnic) are linked by a disulfide bridge. All the ethyl-enediamine N-H and O-H groups form inter-molecular hydrogen bonds with acceptor O and N atoms, giving rise to a three-dimensional network. One of the uncoordinated water molecules has a site occupation factor of 0.5.
