ABSTRACT: The dianion of the title salt, 2C(5)H(6)N(+)·C(12)H(6)N(2)O(4)S(2) (2-), lies on a special position of 2 site symmetry that relates one thio-nicotinate part to the other, and the dihedral angle between the niotinate planes is 89.2?(2)°. The pyridinium cations are hydrogen bonded to the carboxyl-ate group by way of N-H?O links.

Project description:In the title compound, C(18)H(26)N(2) (2+)·2Cl(-), the complete dication is generated by crystallographic inversion symmetry; both N atoms are protonated and engaged in strong and highly directional N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds. Additional weak C-H?Cl contacts promote the formation of a tape along ca. [110]. The crystal structure can be described by the parallel packing of these tapes. The crystal studied was a non-merohedral twin with twin law [-1 0 0, 0 -1 0, -0.887 0.179 1] and the final BASF parameter refining to 0.026?(2) .

2,2'-Dinitro-5,5'-dithio-dibenzoic acid.

Project description:In the title compound, C(14)H(8)N(2)O(8)S(2), the asymmetric unit contains two independent 2,2'-dinitro-5,5'-dithio-dibenzoic acid (Dina) mol-ecules with roughly the same conformation. In the crystal structure, strong inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds link the organic mol-ecules into a one-dimensional zigzag chain along the a axis. The dihedral angles between the two aromatic rings [109.3?(2) and 103.1?(3)°] are larger than that (88.95°) observed in a structure of the compound with a solvent water mol-ecule [Shefter & Kalman (1969), J. Chem. Soc. D, p. 1027]. Such a difference may be explained by the occurrence of O-H?O hydrogen bonds involving the water mol-ecule in the previously reported structure.

2,2'-Dithio-dianiline: a redetermination at 100?K.

Project description:STRUCTURAL STUDIES OF THE TITLE COMPOUND [SYSTEMATIC NAME: 2,2'-(disulfanedi-yl)dianiline], C(12)H(12)N(2)S(2), were previously performed at room temperature [Gomes de Mesquita (1967 ?). Acta Cryst.23, 671; Lee & Bryant (1970 ?). Acta Cryst. B26, 1729; Ribar et al. (1975 ?). Bull. Yugoslav. Crystallogr. Centre, A10, 68]. The results of the current redetermination allow a clarification of the nature of the intra- and inter-molecular N-H?S hydrogen bonding described in the literature for this compound. On cooling to 100?K, the unit cell contracts most in the c axis, and it changes rather less in the directions involving the strongly hydrogen-bonded chains, which are the a and b axes. In the crystal structure, N-H?N hydrogen bonds link neighbouring mol-ecules into two-dimensional frameworks parallel to the ab plane. An additional inter-molecular N-H?S hydrogen bond has also been established, based on freely refined H-atom positions. Inter-molecular C-H?? inter-actions further stabilize the crystal structure.

Project description:The title salt, C(16)H(18)N(6)O(2) (2+)·2ClO(4) (-)·2H(2)O, was obtained unintentionally as a major product in the reaction of Zn(ClO(4))(2)·6H(2)O with the N',N'(2)-bis-[(1E)-1-(2-pyrid-yl)ethyl-idene]ethanedihydrazide (H(2)L) ligand. The (H(4)L)(2+) cation lies across a centre of inversion. The pyridiniumimine fragments of (H(4)L)(2+) adopt syn orientations. Intra-molecular N-H⋯N and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds lead to the formation of S(5) motifs. In the crystal, neighbouring cations are connected by π-π inter-actions between pyridinium units with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.600 (1) Å. Moreover, the crystal components are assembled into two-dimensional layers via N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, with no direct hydrogen-bonding inter-actions between cations.

Project description:The title compound, C(15)H(20)N(2)O(2) (2+)·2PF(6) (-), was prepared by anion exchange of two bromide ions in the ionic liquid 2,2'-bis-(pyridinium-1-ylmeth-yl)-propane-1,3-diol dibromide with potassium hexa-fluoro-phosphate. The two pyridine rings are planar (r.m.s. deviations = 0.008 and 0.00440?Å) and make a dihedral angle of 44.0?(2)°. Intermolecular O-H?F and C-H?F interactions occur. The four F atoms in each anion were refined as disordered over two sets of sites with an occupancy ration of 0.700?(19):0.300?(19).

A triclinic modification of 5,5'-dinitro-2,2'-dithio-dipyridine.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(10)H(6)N(4)O(4)S(2), contains two independent but similar mol-ecules. The structure is a triclinic polymorph of the monoclinic structure reported previously [Brito, Mundaca, Cárdenas, López-Rodríguez & Vargas (2007 ?). Acta Cryst. E63, o3351-o3352]. The most obvious difference between the two polymorphs is the C-S-S-C torsion angle [-80.13?(16), -79.8?(2) and 0° for the two mol-ecules of the triclinic polymorph and the monoclinic polymorph, respectively]. The crystal structure of the title compound has two intra-molecular C-H?S inter-actions with average H?S distances of 2.69?Å, whereas this kind of inter-action is not evident in the monoclinic polymorph.

Within the hydrogensulfate ion, the S-O(H) bond is the longest of the S-O bonds. The dihedral angle between the central and terminal ring of the cation is 78.6?(2)°. In the crystal, the cation, anion and water mol-ecule inter-act by O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds, generating a three-dimensional network.
