ABSTRACT: In the structure of the title compound, [KPt(C(6)H(4)N(3)O)Cl(2)(C(6)H(5)N(3)O)(C(12)H(24)O(6))], the Pt(II) atom is in a distorted square-planar geometry. The crystal structure is consolidated by O-H?O hydrogen bonds. The measured crystal was a non-merohedral twin with four components.

Adjacent Cd ions are inter-connected alternately by paired Cl(-) bridges to generate an infinite one-dimensional coordination chain along the b axis. Project description:In the title compound, [BaCl(C(12)H(24)O(6))(H(2)O)(3)]Cl, the Ba(II) atom, the coordinating and free Cl(-) anions, one coordinating water mol-ecule and two O atoms of an 18-crown-6 mol-ecule lie on a mirror plane. The environment of the ten-coordinate Ba(2+) ion is defined by one Cl atom, three water mol-ecules and six O atoms from the macrocyclic ether. The macrocycle adopts a conformation with an approximate D(3d) symmetry. In the crystal, O-H?Cl hydrogen bonds link the complex cations and Cl(-) anions into a two-dimensional network parallel to (010). An intra-molecular O-H?Cl hydrogen bond is also present.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Cu(C(2)H(3)O(3))Cl(H(2)O)](n), the Cu(II) ion is five-coordinate in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. Two O atoms from a chelating glycolate anion, an O atom from a coordinated water mol-ecule and a chloride anion comprise the basal plane. The anions are located in the C faces of the triclinic unit cell, with an inversion center in the middle of the La(2)Cl(2) ring of the polymeric chain.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [K(C(3)H(7)O(3))](n) or K[H(2)gl](n), common name potassium glycerolate, contains half the K(+) cation and half of the glycerolate anion. The other half of the anion is generated through a mirror plane passing through the K atom, and a C, an H and an O atom of the glycerolate ligand. The K(+) ion is coordinated by the O atoms of the OH groups, leading to a six-membered chelate ring that adopts a very distorted boat conformation. The negatively charged O atom of the glycerolate anion, [H(2)gl(-)], is found in the flagpole position and forms an ionic bond with the K(+) ion. The O atoms of the hydroxo groups are coordinated to two K(+) ions, whereas the negatively charged O atom is bonded to one K(+) ion. The K(+) ion is coordinated by three other symmetry-related monodentate H(2)gl(-) ligands, so that each H(2)gl(-) ligand is bonded to two K(+) ions, and the potassium has a seven-coordinate environment. The H(2)gl(-) ligands are connected via a strong O-H⋯O hydrogen bond and, together with the K⋯O inter-connections, form polymeric sheets which propagate in the directions of the a and b axes.

The Cd(II) atoms are connected alternately by the Cl atoms and bmei ligands, leading to a zigzag chain extending parallel to [011]. π-π inter-actions, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.3016 (3) Å, help to stabilize the crystal packing.
