ABSTRACT: The title square-planar nickel complex, [Ni(C(20)H(22)N(2)O(6))], has Ni-N and Ni-O bond lengths of 1.8448?(14)/1.8478?(14) and 1.8536?(12)/1.8520?(12)?Å. There is a slight twist in the two benzene rings at each end of the complex [dihedral angle = 11.11?(5)°]. All the atoms of the meth-oxy substitutents are in the plane of the ring to which they are attached except for one which deviates slightly [0.365?(3)?Å]. In the crystal, weak C-H?O inter-molecular inter-actions connect the mol-ecules.

Project description:The title complex, [Ni(C(18)H(18)N(2)O(4))(H(2)O)], lies on a mirror plane with the Ni(II) ion coordinated by two N and two O atoms of a tetra-dentate Schiff base ligand and one water O atom in a distorted square-pyramidal enviroment. The -CH(2)-CH(2)- group of the ligand is disordered equally over two sites about the mirror plane. The dihedral angle between the mean planes of the two symmetry-related chelate rings is 37.16?(6)°. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds link complex mol-ecules into one-dimensional chains along [100] and these chains are linked, in turn, by very weak inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds into a two-dimensional network.

Project description:The title compound, [Cu(C(22)H(22)N(2)O(8))], is a tetra-dentate Schiff base complex. The Cu(II) ion has a nearly square-planar geometry, being coordinated by two N atoms and two O atoms. The two chemically equivalent halves of the mol-ecule are crystallographically independent. One of the carboxylic acid methyl ester units is located in the main plane of the mol-ecule and the other is rotated by 65.3 (5)° with respect to this unit. In the crystal structure, there are π-π stacking inter-actions between adjacent six-membered chelate rings, with centroid-to-centroid distances of 3.602 (2) Å.

Project description:In the title square-planar copper complex, [Cu(C(20)H(22)N(2)O(6))], the Cu-N and Cu-O bond lengths are significantly longer than those of its isostructural nickel analog. The title structure is related to that of the corresponding monohydrate. There are significant differences in the conformations of the two complexes. While the monohydrate is mainly planar, in the title compound there is a slight twist in the two benzene rings at each end of the complex [dihedral angle = 13.14?(6)°]. All the atoms of the meth-oxy substitutents are in the plane of the ring to which they are attached (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0079?Å) except for one of the meth-oxy C atoms, which deviates slightly [0.309?(4)?Å]. In the crystal, weak C-H?O inter-molecular inter-actions link the mol-ecules.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Ni(2)(C(16)H(14)N(2)O(2))(2)], contains an Ni(II) cation which is coordinated by two imine N atoms and by two phenolate O atoms of the salen ligand {salen = N,N'-bis-(salicyl-idene)ethane-1,2-diamine or 2,2'-[ethane-1,2-diyl-bis(nitrilo-methyl-idyne)]diphenol}, leading to a distorted square-planar conformation. When a secondary Ni-O inter-action > 2.41 Å to the neighbouring phenolate O atom is considered, two mol-ecules are linked into a centrosymmetric dimer with an overall square-pyramidal coordination for the Ni(II) cation. Weak π-π inter-actions with a shortest interplanar distance of 3.704 Å help to stabilize the crystal structure.

The coordination of Ni is square-planar with the donor centers of two imine N atoms and two phenolate O atoms. The holmium(III) center has a tenfold -coordination environment of O atoms, involving the phenolate O atoms, two eth-oxy O atoms and two O atoms each from the three nitrates. Weak C-H⋯O and O⋯Ni [3.383 (4) Å] inter-actions generate a two-dimensional zigzag sheet.

Project description:The title Mn(III) compound, {[Mn(C(18)H(18)N(2)O(4))(CH(3)COO)]·CH(3)OH}(n), was synthesized by a reaction between mangan-ese(II) acetate and ethyl-enebis(4-meth-oxy-salicylaldimine). The structure is made up of bis-(4-meth-oxy-salicyldene)ethyl-enediaminatomanganese(III) units bridged by acetate groups, with Mn-N = 1.9786?(9), Mn-O = 1.8784?(10) and Mn-O(acetate) = 2.056?(9) and 2.2571?(9)?Å, forming a one dimensional polymer (-Mn-acetate-Mn-acetate-) along [100]. The Mn(III) atom is in a Jahn-Teller-distorted octa-hedral environment with cis angles ranging from 81.87?(4) to 96.53?(4)° and trans angles ranging from 166.11?(3) to 173.93?(3)°. The methanol solvent mol-ecule is hydrogen bonded to the phenolate O atom. In addition to this classical hydrogen bond, there are weak C-H?O inter-actions. The structure was determined from a crystal twinned by pseudo-merohedry.

The coordination environment of the Ni(2+) ion is distorted square-planar and it is N(2)O(2) coordinated by the 6,6'-dimeth-oxy-2,2'-[ethane-1,2-diylbis(nitrilo-methyl-idyne)]diphenolate Schiff base ligand. The Na(+) atom is chelated by the four O atoms of the Schiff base ligand, a water ligand and a dicyanamide anion. The structure displays inter-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bonding.
