The crystal structure is stabilized by weak ?-? stacking inter-actions, the centroid-centroid distances between 1-methyl-imidazole and benzimidazole planes being 3.678?(4)?Å.

Project description:In the title salt, C10H11N4O2 (+)·I(-), the asymmetric unit consists of a pyridinium cation bearning a (1-methyl-5-nitro-1H-imidazol-2-yl)methyl group at the N position and an iodide anion. The imidazole ring is quasiplanar, with a maxiumum deviation of 0.0032?(16)?Å, and forms a dihedral angle of 67.39?(6)° with the plane of the pyridinium ring. The crystal packing can be described as alternating zigzag layers of cations parallel to the (001) plane, which are sandwiched by the iodide ions. The structure features two types of hydrogen bonds (C-H?O and C-H?I), viz. cation-anion and cation-cation, which lead to the form ation of a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The title compound, 0.75C(15)H(14)N(2)O·0.25C(15)H(14)N(2)O, is a co-crystal of 2-methyl-6-(6-methyl-1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)phenol as the major component and 2-methyl-6-(5-methyl-1H-benz-imidazol-2-yl)phenol as the minor component. The refined site-occupancy ratio is 0.746?(4)/0.254?(4). The conformations of both components are identical except for that of the methyl substituent on the benzene ring of the benzimidazole unit which is positionally disordered over two positions. The mol-ecule is essentially planar, the dihedral angle between the benzimidazole plane and the benzene ring being 3.49?(4)°. An intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bond generates an S(6) ring motif. In the crystal packing, mol-ecules are linked through N-H?O hydrogen bonds into chains along [201]. These chains are stacked approximately along the a-axis direction. The crystal packing is further stabilized by weak N-H?O and O?H?N hydrogen bonds, together with weak inter-molecular C-H?? inter-actions. A ?-? inter-action with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.6241?(6)?Å is also observed between the substituted phenyl ring and that of the benzimidazole system.

Project description:In the cation of the title compound, C10H13N2O(+)·I(-), all non-H atoms, with the exception of the O atom, are essentially coplanar, with a maximum deviation of 0.04?(1)?Å. In the crystal, the cations and anions are arranged in layers parallel to (100). The cations are connected to the anions via an O-H?I hydrogen bond and there are significant ?-? stacking inter-actions between cation layers, with centroid-centroid distances in the range 3.606?(5)-3.630?(5)?Å. A weak intra-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bond is also observed. The crystal studied was an inversion twin with refined components of 0.52?(5) and 0.48?(5).

Project description:In the title compound, C(18)H(16)N(+)·I(-), the cation is disordered over two orientations related by a 180° rotation about its long axis with occupancies of 0.554 (7) and 0.446 (7). Both disorder components exist in an E configuration. The dihedral angle between the pyridinium ring and the naphthalene ring system is 4.7 (6)° in the major disorder component and 1.6 (8)° in the minor component. In the crystal structure, centrosymmetrically related cations are stacked along the a axis, with significant π-π inter-actions between the pyridinium ring and the naphthalene ring system [centroid-centroid distance = 3.442 (9) Å]. The iodide ions are located between adjacent columns of cations. The cations are linked to the iodide ions by C-H⋯I inter-actions. Weak C-H⋯π inter-actions involving the methyl group are also observed.

Project description:In the structure of the title salt C(12)H(11)N(2)S(+)·I(-), the methyl-sulfanyl group of the cation is nearly coplanar with the perimidine rings, as indicated by the C-S-C-N torsion angles of 2.9 (5) and -177.2 (3)°, respectively. The (S)C-N bond lengths in the heterocyclic ring are approximately equal [1.325 (5) and 1.326 (6) Å] suggesting a degree of delocalization. In the crystal, cations and anions are linked via two discrete N-H⋯I hydrogen bonds, forming chains along the b axis.
