ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [Mn(C(28)H(18)N(2)O(2))(N(3))(H(2)O)], the Mn(III) ion adopts a distorted fac-MnO(3)N(3) octa-hedral geometry arising from the O,N,N',O'-tetra-dentate Schiff base ligand, an azide ion and a water mol-ecule. In the crystal, inter-molecular O-H?(O,O) and O-H?N hydrogen bonds and ?-? inter-actions [centroid-centroid separation = 3.5535?(13)?Å] link the mol-ecules into chains.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title complex, [Mn(C(28)H(30)N(2)O(2))Cl(H(2)O)][Mn(C(28)H(30)N(2)O(2))Cl(CH(3)OH)], contains two discrete Mn(III) complexes of a Schiff base ligand, with an N(2)O(2) donor set. Both Mn(III) centers are in a distorted octa-hedral geometry with the N(2)O(2) donor atoms of the tetra-dentate Schiff base dianion in the equatorial plane. The axial positions in the coordination environment of one Mn(III) complex are occupied by a chloride ion and a water mol-ecule, but a methanol mol-ecule replaces the water mol-ecule in the other complex. The coordinated water mol-ecule takes part in an O-H?Cl hydrogen bond between the two Mn(III) complexes. In the crystal structure, O-H?Cl hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into infinite one-dimensional chains along the [100] direction. The crystal structure is stabilized by O-H?Cl hydrogen bonds together with weak C-H?O and C-H?Cl inter-actions. A C-H?? inter-action is also observed in the crystal structure.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(28)H(20)N(2)O(2)·0.5C(2)H(5)OH, contains two independent mol-ecules of 1,1'-[o-phenyl-enebis(nitrilo-methyl-idyne)]di-2-naphthol, denoted A and B, and one ethanol solvent mol-ecule. The hydr-oxy groups are involved in intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bonds influencing the mol-ecular conformations, which are slightly different in mol-ecules A and B, where the two bicyclic systems form dihedral angles of 51.93?(9) and 58.52?(9)°, respectively. In the crystal structure, a number of short inter-molecular C?C contacts with distances of less than 3.5?Å suggest the existence of ?-? inter-actions, which contribute to the stability of the crystal packing.

Project description:A new tetra-dentate unsymmetrical Schiff base, C(20)H(15)BrN(2)O(2), has been synthesized from 4-bromo-o-phenyl-enediamine and salicylaldehyde in refluxing ethanol. The dihedral angles between the two hydroxy-phenyl rings and the bromo-o-phenyl-enediiminatoin group are 68.6?(1) and 8.7?(1)°; the dihedral angle between the two hydroxy-phenyl rings is 70.3?(1)°. There are two relatively strong intra-molecular of O-H?N hydrogen bonds.

These helices are further connected by weak C-H⋯O inter-actions into a three-dimensional network. Project description:The title compound, [Co(C(20)H(14)N(2)O(2))(C(5)H(5)N)(2)]ClO(4) or [Co(salophen)(py)(2)]ClO(4), where salophen is o-phenyl-enebis(nitrilo-methyl-idyne)]diphenolate and py is pyridine, contains a six-coordinate mononuclear cobalt(III) atom. The two phenolic O atoms and the two imine N atoms are located in cis positions. There are two pyridine mol-ecules attached to the metal atom, filling the axial sites with a mutually perpendicular disposition of the pyridine planes [86.11?(5)°]. The Co complexes are stacked in layers parallel to (100). Coherence of the structure is provided by a variety of C-H?O interactions between the complexes and the perchlor-ate counter anion.

Hydrogen bonds of the O-H?Cl type link the mol-ecules into an infinite chain along [010]. The crystal structure is further stabilized by C-H?? inter-actions.
