Bis(2,2'-bipyridine)(2-hy-droxy-2,2-diphenyl-acetato)-copper(II) nitrate dihydrate.

ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [Cu(C(14)H(11)O(3))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]NO(3)·2H(2)O, the Cu(II) atom is coordinated by four N atoms from two 2,2'-bipyridine ligands and two O atoms from one benzilate ligand in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. A supra-molecular network is formed via inter-molecular O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions. ?-? stacking inter-actions between neighboring pyridine rings are also present, the centroid-centroid distance being 3.808?(2)?Å.

Project description:The Cu(II) atom in the title complex, [Cu(C(14)H(11)O(3))Cl(C(10)H(8)N(2))], exists within a ClN(2)O(2) donor set defined by a chloride ion, an asymmetrically chelating carboxyl-ate ligand, and a symmetrically chelating 2,2'-bipyridine mol-ecule. The coordination geometry is square pyramidal with the axial site occupied by the O atom forming the weaker Cu-O inter-action. The hy-droxy group forms an intra-molecular hydrogen bond with the axial O atom, as well as an inter-molecular O-H?Cl hydrogen bond. The latter leads to the formation of [100] supra-molecular chains in the crystal, with the Cu(II) atoms lying in a line.

Project description:The dinuclear title compound, [Nd(2)(C(9)H(7)O(3))(6)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]·2C(10)H(8)N(2)·2H(2)O, was synthesized under hydro-thermal conditions. The centrosymmetric complex consists of two nine-coordinated Nd(3+) cations, six 3-hy-droxy-cinnamate anions and two chelating 2,2'-bipyridine mol-ecules. The coordination geometry around the cations can be best described as distorted tricapped trigonal-prismatic. The carboxyl-ate groups show different coordination and bridging modes. Two of them chelate to one Nd(3+) cation, two bridge the two cations in a bis-monodentate fashion, and two chelate to one and bridge monodentately to the symmetry-related Nd(3+) cation. The dinuclear mol-ecule is surrounded by two 2,2'-bipyridine solvent and two water mol-ecules. Extensive O-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen-bonding inter-actions between the components lead to the formation of a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title coordination polymer, {[Gd(2)(C(8)H(4)O(5))(3)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·3H(2)O}(n), contains two Gd(III) cations, one of which is surrounded by three 5-hy-droxy-isophthalate anions, one 2,2'-bipyridine ligand and two water mol-ecules in a distorted N(2)O(7) tricapped trigonal-prismatic coordination geometry. The other Gd cation is coordinated by four 5-hy-droxy-isophthalate anions and one 2,2'-bipyridine ligand in a distorted N(2)O(7) tricapped trigonal-prismatic coordination geometry. The 5-hy-droxy-isophthalate anions bridge the Gd cations, forming a layer structure. Project description:The mol-ecule of the binuclear title complex, [Cu(2)(C(8)H(7)O(2))(4)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]·2H(2)O, is located on an inversion centre. The Cu atoms are bridged by two O atoms of the monodentate phenyl-acetate groups [Cu-O = 1.9808?(14) and 2.3668?(14)?Å]. The longer of the two bridging Cu-O bonds takes the apical position of the distorted square-pyramidal environment of the Cu atom, which is completed by two N atoms of the chelate 2,2'-bipyridine ligand [Cu-N = 2.0107?(17) and 2.0234?(16)?Å]. The mol-ecules are assembled into stacks along [100] through ?-? inter-actions with inter-planar distances of 3.630?(4) and 3.407?(3)?Å; the resulting stacks are further connected into a three-dimensional supra-molecular architecture by O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions.

Project description:The title six-coordinated distorted octa-hedral complex, [Cu(C(6)H(3)N(2)O(4))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))]·2H(2)O, consists of two 3-carboxy-pyrazine-2-carboxyl-ate anions and one 2,2'-bipyridine ligand. There is a twofold rotation axis positioned at the Cu(II) center. The N atoms of the pyrazine ring occupy the axial positions and two proton-transferred O atoms of tbe acid together with the two N atoms of the 2,2'-bipyridine ligand complete the equatorial plane. The inter-actions existing in the crystal structure are inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, and C-H⋯O and C-O⋯π inter-actions (O⋯π =3.145 Å, C-O⋯π = 149.75°).

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(C(2)H(3)O(3))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)]NO(3), the Cu(II) atom is coordinated by two phenanthroline (phen) ligands and one carboxyl-O atom of a hy-droxy-acetate anion in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. The hy-droxy group of the hy-droxy-acetate ligand links with the counter NO(3) (-) anion via a pair of bifurcated O-H?O hydrogen bonds. The centroid-centroid distance of 3.5676?(14)?Å between benzene rings of parallel phen ligands of adjacent mol-ecules suggests the existence of ?-? stacking. Weak inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonding is also present in the crystal structure.

Project description:The title compound, {[Cu(2)(C(8)H(5)Cl(2)O(3))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]NO(3)}(n) was prepared by reacting copper(II) nitrate with 4,4'-bipyridine (4,4'-bipy) and (2,4-dichloro-phen-oxy)acetic acid under solvothermal conditions. Each of two copper(I) atoms in the asymmetric unit is three-coordinated by two N atoms from two 4,4'-bipy ligands and one O atom from the (2,4-dichloro-phen-oxy)acetate ligand. As both ligands act as bridging ligands, a double-stranded chain structure is observed.
