ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Zn(C(18)H(39)N(3)O(3))](NO(3))(2)·H(2)O, the coordination geometry around the central Zn(II) atom is distorted octa-hedral. The hydroxyl groups in the macrocyclic ligand and water mol-ecules are engaged in O-H?O hydrogen bonding, which forms two-dimensional corrugated sheets comprising 34-membered rings. Neighbouring sheets are connected by C-H?O inter-actions.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title salt, 3C(5)H(6)NO(+)·HSO(4) (-)·SO(4) (2-)·H(2)O, the hydrogen sulfate ion is linked to the sulfate ion by an O-H?O hydrogen bond. The hydrogen sulfate-sulfate anion is a hydrogen-bond acceptor for the three independent cations and the uncoordinated water mol-ecule, the hydrogen-bonding inter-actions giving rise to a three-dimensional hydrogen-bonded network. In the hydrogen sulfate-sulfate species, one of the sulfate groups is disordered in respect of its O atoms in a 2:1 ratio.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, C8H16N4, which consists of four fused seven-membered rings, has been redetermined at 173?K. This redetermination corrects the orientation of two H atoms, which were located at unrealistic positions in the original room-temperature study [Murray-Rust (1974 ?). J. Chem. Soc. Perkin Trans. 2, pp. 1136-1141]. The complete mol-ecule is generated by -42m symmetry, with one quarter of a mol-ecule [one N atom (site symmetry m), two C atoms (one with site symmetry m and the other with site symmetry 2) and two H atoms] in the asymmetric unit. No directional inter-actions beyond van der Waals contacts are apparent in the crystal structure.

Inter-molecular non-classical C-H⋯N hydrogen bonding inter-links the [Cu(C(3)H(5)N)(3)(C(12)H(18)N(6))](2+) cations into a two-dimensional supra-molecular sheet extending along the ab plane. The crystal packing also exhibits weak C-H⋯O inter-actions.

The asymmetric unit comprises an oxonium cation, a zwitterionic monoanion containing a positively charged ammonium group and two negatively charged phospho-nic acid residues and a water mol-ecule of crystallization. The hydroxonium cation and water mol-ecule are hydrogen bonded to the anion and further N-H?O and O-H?O bonds create a three-dimensional network.

Project description:12-Crown-4 ether (12C4) and LiClO(4) combine to form the ionic title compound, [Li(2)(C(8)H(16)O(4))(3)](ClO(4))(2), which is com-posed of discrete Li/12C4 cations and perchlorate anions. In the [Li(2)(12C4)(3)](2+) cation there are two peripheral 12C4 ligands, which each form four Li-O bonds with only one Li(+) atom. Additionally there is a central 12C4 in which diagonal O atoms form one Li-O bond each with both Li(+) atoms. Therefore each Li(+) atom is penta-coordinated in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry, forming four longer bonds to the O atoms on the peripheral 12C4 and one shorter bond to an O atom of the central 12C4. The cation occupies a crystallographic inversion centre located at the center of the ring of the central 12C4 ligand. The Li(+) atom lies above the cavity of the peripheral 12C4 by 0.815 (2) Å because it is too large to fit in the cavity.

The compound has a cage structure which is constructed from one six-membered and two five-membered rings which are closed by a C-C bond, thus creating two seven-membered rings. There are a number of close intermolecular contacts [O?O = 2.827?(5), 2.853?(4) and 2.891?(5)?Å; O?N = 2.746?(2) and 2.895?(2)?Å] The calculated density of TNDFIW is 1.891?Mg?m(-3).

The mol-ecule is built up from two fused six- and seven-membered rings. The six-membered ring has a half-chair conformation, whereas the seven-membered ring displays a boat conformation.
