Hexakis(N,N-dimethyl-formamide-?O)cobalt(II) bis-(perchlorate).

ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title complex, [Co(DMF)(6)](ClO(4))(2) (DMF = N,N-dimethyl-formamide, C(3)H(7)NO), consists of two half complex cations with the Co(2+) metal ions located on centers of inversion and two perchlorate anions. In the crystal packing, each Co(2+) ion is coordinated by six mol-ecules of DMF in a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry. The crystal structure is mainly stabilized by coordinative, ionic and C-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions.

Project description:The title compound, [Cu(2)(C(2)O(4))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(4)](ClO(4))(2)·2C(3)H(7)NO·H(2)O, contains doubly charged centrosymmetric dinuclear oxalato-bridged copper(II) complex cations, perchlorate anions, and DMF and water solvate mol-ecules. In the complex cation, the oxalate ligand is coordinated in a bis-bidentate bridging mode to the Cu atoms. Each Cu atom has a distorted tetra-gonal-bipyramidal environment, being coordinated by two N atoms of the two chelating bipy ligands and two O atoms of the doubly deprotonated oxalate anion. Pairs of perchlorate anions and water mol-ecules are linked into recta-ngles by O-H?O bonds in which the perchlorate O atoms act as acceptors and the water mol-ecules as donors. Methyl groups of the DMF solvent molecule are disordered over two sites with occupancies of 0.453?(7):0.547?(7), and the water molecule is half-occupied.

There are significant differences between chemically equivalent coordination bond lengths. The crystal structure is stabilized by weak inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds and weak ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance 3.495?(1)?Å]. In one of the anions one nitro group is rotationally disordered about the C-N bond with refined occupancies of 0.524?(8) and 0.476?(8).

Project description:The title extended solid coordination compound, {[Fe(C(44)H(40)N(2)O(4)P(2))(C(3)H(7)NO)(2)](ClO(4))(2)·2C(3)H(7)NO}(n), was crystallized un-ex-pectedly from the reaction mixture containing the Trost ligand (1R,2R)-(+)-1,2-diamino-cyclo-hexane-N,N'-bis-(2'-di-phenyl-phosphinobenzo-yl) and Fe(ClO(4))(2)·6H(2)O in a 1:1 ratio in dimethyl-formamide (DMF) under reflux conditions. The polymeric complex is characterized by Fe(II) metal centers that are coordinated by two oxidized Trost ligands, each coordinated in a bidentate fashion in a square plane, along with two DMF mol-ecules above and below the plane [average Fe-O(DMF) = 2.086 (4) Å], forming an overall pseudo-octa-hedral geometry. The Trost ligand binds adjacent Fe(II) centers, each Fe(II) being bound through the O atom of one of the phosphine oxides [average Fe-O(PPh2) = 2.115 (4) Å] and the carbonyl O atom of the adjacent amide [average Fe-O(amide) = 2.192 (3) Å]. Disorder is observed in the co-solvated solvent: there are two DMF mol-ecules per Fe(II) centre, which were modeled as one DMF mol-ecule with complete occupancy and the other being modeled in two positions with equal occupancy. Disorder was also observed with one of the perchlorate anions, which was modeled in two positions with 0.75:0.25 occupancy.

The crystal packing is stabilized by inter-molecular hydrogen bonds between the ammonium H atoms and the perchlorate and salen O atoms, which generate a three-dimensional structure.
