Bis{1-[(E)-(2-methyl-phen-yl)diazen-yl]-2-naphtho-lato}palladium(II).

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Pd(C(17)H(13)N(2)O)(2)], the Pd(II) atom is tetra-coordinated by two N atoms and two O atoms from two bidentate methylphenyl-diazenylnaphtolate ligands, forming a square-planar complex. The two N atoms and two O atoms around the Pd(II) atom are trans to each other (as the Pd(II) atom lies on a crystallographic inversion centre) with O-Pd-N bond angles of 89.60?(11) and 90.40?(11)°. The distances between the Pd(II) atom and the coordinated O and N atoms are 1.966?(3) and 2.009?(3)?Å, respectively.

Project description:The dinuclear title compound, [PdCl{Se[(C5H5)Fe(C5H3)2CH2N(CH3)2]}]2 was obtained by the reaction of [PdCl2(NCPh)2] with 2-[(N,N'-di-methyl-amino)-meth-yl]ferro-cene-seleno-late and the crystals for the structure determination were grown from a mixture of THF and n-hexane. Both Pd(II) atoms are coordinated by the bridging Se atoms and by the amino N atoms of the bidentate 2-[(N,N'-di-methyl-amino)-meth-yl]ferrocene-seleno-late ligand, as well as by Cl atoms, and show a distorted square-planar coordination. The angle between the Pd-Se-Se planes of the two Pd atoms is 149.31?(3)°. Weak Cl?H hydrogen bonds link the binuclear complexes into a three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title compound, [PdCl(2)(C(27)H(26)P(2))] or PdCl(2)[(C(6)H(5))(2)PCH(2)P(C(6)H(4)CH(3))(2)], the palladium center has a distorted square-planar geometry. There are two crystallographically independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. The dihedral angle between the PdP(2) and PdCl(2) planes is 2.95?(4)° in one independent mol-ecule and 5.15?(4)° in the other. The P-Pd-P and P-C-P bond angles are significantly distorted because of the small bite angle of the chelating (bis-phosphino)methane ligand. The steric demands of the substituted rings in the mixed ligand cause a slight elongation of the Pd-P(C(6)H(4)CH(3))(2) bond relative to the Pd-P(C(6)H(5))(2) bond. In one molecule the tolyl ring shows positional disorder in a 0.58?(2):0.42?(2) ratio, in the other molecule the phenyl ring shows positional disorder in a 0.838?(9):0.162?(9) ratio.
