Hexa-kis-(thio-urea-?S)nickel(II) nitrate: a redetermination.

ABSTRACT: A preliminary X-ray study of the title mol-ecular salt, [Ni(CH(4)N(2)S)(6)](NO(3))(2), has been reported twice previously, by Ma?ar [Acta Cryst. (1961), 14, 894] and Rodriguez, Cubero, Vega, Morente & Vazquez [Acta Cryst. (1961), 14, 1101], using film methods. We confirm the previous studies, but to modern standards of precision and with all H atoms located. The central Ni atom (site symmetry ) of the dication is octa-hedrally coordinated by six S-bound thio-urea mol-ecules. The crystal structure is stabilized by intra- and inter-molecular N-H?S and N-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title complex salt, [Ni(C(3)H(8)N(2)S)(6)](NO(3))(2), consists of an [Ni(Dmtu)(6)](2+) (Dmtu is N,N'-dimethyl-thio-urea) dication and two nitrate counter-anions. The Ni(II) atom (site symmetry ) is coordinated by the S atoms of six Dmtu ligands within a slightly distorted octa-hedral environment. The crystal structure is characterized by weak intra-molecular N-H?S inter-actions and by inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds involving the nitrate anion (site symmetry 3.). These inter-molecular inter-actions lead to the formation of two-dimensional networks lying parallel to the ab plane. The networks are linked via non-classical inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional arrangement.

Project description:The title compound, [Cu(6)I(6)(C(2)H(6)N(2)S)(6)], was obtained from the reaction of copper(I) iodide with N-methyl-thio-urea (Metu) in equimolar amounts in acetonitile. The complex consists of two six-membered trinuclear Cu(3)S(3)I(3) cores that combine through triply bridging Metu, forming a hexa-nuclear core which has -3 symmetry. The Cu(II) atom is coordinated by three S atoms of Metu and one iodide ion in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The crystal structure is stabilized by N-H?I hydrogen bonds and cuprophilic inter-actions [Cu?Cu = 3.0264?(9)?Å].

Project description:The title complex, [NiCl(2)(CH(4)N(2)S)(2)], has been synthesized from the previously reported (diamino-methyl-idene)sulfonium chloride-thio-urea (3/2) salt [Zouihri (2012b ?). Acta Cryst. E68, o257]. The Ni(II) ion is coordinated in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry by two mol-ecules of thio-urea [Ni-S = 2.3079?(7) and 2.3177?(6)?Å] and two chloride anions [Ni-Cl = 2.2516?(7) and 2.2726?(7)?Å]. The bond angles at the Ni atom lie between 96.69?(2) and 115.40?(3)°, while the dihedral angle between the mean planes of the two thio-urea ligands is 6.36?(15)°. The crystal structure is characterized by intra- and inter-molecular N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds, which lead to the formation of two-dimensional networks lying parallel to the ab plane. The networks are linked via classical N-H?Cl and N-H?S hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional arrangement.

Project description:The reaction of nickel(II) thio-cyanate with an excess of pyridazine leads to single crystals of the title compound, [Ni(NCS)(2)(C(4)H(4)N(2))(4)]·2C(4)H(4)N(2). The Ni(II) cations are coordinated by two terminal N-bonded thio-cyanate anions (trans) and four pyridazine ligands in a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry. The discrete complexes are arranged into layers parallel to the ab plane which are separated by additional non-coordinated pyridazine ligands.

Project description:A low-temperature redetermination of the trinuclear cluster compound described as [Cr(3)(C(2)H(2)ClO(2))(6)O(H(2)O)(3)]NO(3)·3H(2)O [Glowiak, Kubiak & Jezowska-Trzebiatowska (1977 ▶). Bull. Acad. Pol. Sci. Ser. Sci. Chim.25, 359-371] shows that the salt is a 3.5-hydrate, [Cr(3)(C(2)H(2)ClO(2))(6)O(H(2)O)(3)]NO(3)·3.5H(2)O. The trinuclear cluster cation is disordered in four of the six monochloro-acetate groups. One is disordered over two positions in respect of the chloro-methyl atoms (occupancy ratio 0.50:0.50); another is disordered over three positions in respect of the chloro-methyl atoms (occupancy ratio 0.50:0.37:0.13) whereas two are disordered over two positions in respect of the Cl atoms only (occupancy ratios 0.84:0.16 and 0.60:0.40). Of the four independent uncoordinated water mol-ecules, one has an occupancy factor of 0.5. The trinuclear cation has an oxido O atom that is connected to three water-coordinated Cr(III) atoms, the three metal atoms forming the points of an equilateral triangle. Six carboxyl-ate groups each chelate a Cr-O-Cr fragment. The cations, anions and uncoordinated water mol-ecules are linked by hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The structure of the polymeric title compound, [CuCl(CH(4)N(2)S)(2)](n), has been redetermined to modern standards of precision with anisotropic refinement and location of the H atoms. The previous structure report [Spofford & Amma (1970 ?). Acta Cryst. B26, 1474-1483] is generally confirmed to higher precision [typical Cu-S bond length s.u. values = 0.005 (old) and 0.001?Å (new)]. The asymmetric unit contains two formula units, with both Cu(I) atoms coordinated by one terminal S atom and two bridging S atoms of thio-urea ligands. This connectivity leads to polymeric [100] chains in the crystal. If very long contacts to nearby chloride ions [2.8687?(9) and 3.1394?(12)?Å] are considered to be bonding, then very distorted CuS(3)Cl tetra-hedral coordination polyhedra arise. The crystal structure is consolidated by weak intra- and inter-chain N-H?S and N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, C(19)H(16)N(2)O(2)S, was synthesized from furoyl isothio-cyanate and N-benzyl-aniline in dry acetone and the structure redetermined. The structure [Otazo-Sánchez et al. (2001 ?). J. Chem. Soc. Perkin Trans. 2, pp. 2211-2218] has been re-determined in order to establish the intramolecular and intermolecular inter-actions. The thio-urea group is in the thio-amide form. The thio-urea group makes a dihedral angle of 29.2?(6)° with the furoyl group. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are linked by inter-molecular C-H?O inter-actions, forming one-dimensional chains along the a axis. An intra-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bond is also present.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, [Ni(NCS)(2)(C(6)H(8)N(2))(4)], consists of isolated mol-ecules of [Ni(NCS)(2)(Aim)(4)] (Aim = 1-allyl-imidazole), which contain a distorted octa-hedral NiN(6) chromophore. The NCS(-) anions are trans and four N atoms from the 1-allyl-imidazole ligands define the equatorial plane. The mean Mn-N(Aim) and Mn-N(NCS) distances are 2.105 (2) and 2.098 (2) Å, respectively. Weak C-H⋯N inter-actions contribute to the crystal packing stability.

Project description:The title compound, C(12)H(16)N(2)O(2)S, was synthesized from furoyl isothio-cyanate and cyclo-hexyl-amine in dry acetone, and the crystal structure redetermined. The thio-urea group is in the thio-amide form. The structure [Otazo-Sánchez et al. (2001 ?). J. Chem. Soc. Perkin Trans. 2, pp. 2211-2218] has been redetermined in order to establish the intra- and inter-molecular inter-actions. The trans-cis geometry of the thio-urea group is stabilized by intra-molecular hydrogen bonding between the carbonyl and cis-thio-amide groups, resulting in a pseudo-S(6) planar ring which makes a dihedral angle of 3.24?(6)° with the 2-furoyl group and a torsion angle of -84.3?(2)° with the cyclo-hexyl group. There is also an intra-molecular hydrogen bond between the furan O atom and the other thio-amide H atom. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are linked by inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming chains along [010].
