ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(20)H(15)N(3)O, the diazepine ring adopts a boat conformation. The dihedral angle between pyridine and benzene rings is 55.2?(1)°. The benzoyl phenyl ring forms dihedral angles of 49.4?(1) and 75.9?(1)°, respectively, with the pyridine and benzene rings. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into centrosymmetric dimers by pairs of C-H?N hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, C24H20N2OS, crystallizes with two independent mol-ecules (A and B) in the asymmetric unit, in each of which the cyclo-hexene rings adopt half-chair conformations. The mean plane of the indole ring is twisted from those of the phenyl and thio-phene rings by 69.0 (7) and 8.3 (5)°, respectively, in mol-ecule A and by 65.4 (9) and 6.7 (5)°, respectively, in mol-ecule B. The dihedral angles between the mean planes of the phenyl and thio-phene rings are 63.0 (4) and 58.8 (9)° in mol-ecules A and B, respectively. In the crystal, N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds lead to the formation of an infinite chain along [101]. In addition, π-π stacking inter-actions are observed involving the thio-phene and pyrrole rings of the two mol-ecules, with a shortest inter-centroid distance of 3.468 (2) Å.

Project description:The title mol-ecule, C23H20O3, is disordered with a 180° rotation about an axis normal to the length of the mol-ecule, with the major and minor components in a 0.545?(5):0.455?(5) ratio. In the major component, the central benzene ring forms dihedral angles of 72.34?(3) and 69.46?(3)° with the dimethyl-substituted and meth-oxy-substituted benzene rings, respectively. Moreover, the central benzene ring forms dihedral angles of 50.86?(5) and 58.43?(4)° with the mean planes of the ketone groups. In the minor component, the corresponding dihedral angles between the benzene rings are 71.36?(4) and 67.94?(4)° and the dihedral angles between the benzene ring and the ketone groups are 56.44?(9) and 55.51?(8)°. In the crystal, C-H?O inter-actions generate a C(9) chain along the a-axis direction.

The dihedral angles between the benzene rings and the naphthalene ring system are 69.26 (6) and 64.29 (5)°. In the crystal, classical N-H?O hydrogen bonds, as well as C-H?O contacts connect the components into a three-dimensional network. The seven-membered ring adopts a boat-like conformation. Regiospecific Synthesis and Structural Studies of 3,5-Dihydro-4H-pyrido[2,3-b][1,4]diazepin-4-ones and Comparison with 1,3-Dihydro-2H-benzo[b][1,4]diazepin-2-ones.

Project description:Nine 3,5-dihydro-4H-pyrido[2,3-b][1,4]diazepin-4-ones (17-25), some of which contain fluoro-substituents, have been regiospecifically prepared by reaction of 2,3-diaminopyridines with ethyl aroylacetates. In two cases, open intermediates have been isolated and these are related to the reaction pathway. The X-ray crystal structure of 1-methyl-4-phenyl-3,5-dihydro-4H-pyrido[2,3-b][1,4]diazepin-4-one (23) has been solved (formula, C15H13N3O; crystal system, monoclinic; space group, C2/c). This is an asymmetric unit constituted by a single nonplanar molecule and its conformational enantiomer due to the presence of the seven-membered diazepin-2-one moiety, which introduces a certain degree of torsion in the adjacent pyridine ring. The 1H, 13C, 15N, and 19F NMR spectra were obtained and the chemical shifts, together with those of the previously published 1,3-dihydro-2H-benzo[b][1,4]diazepin-2-ones (1-16), i.e., a total of 544 values, were successfully compared with the chemical shifts calculated at the gauge invariant atomic orbital (GIAO)/Becke, three-parameter, Lee-Yang-Parr (B3LYP)/6-311++G(d,p) level. The seven-membered ring inversion barrier in 5-benzyl-2-phenyl-3,5-dihydro-4H-pyrido[2,3-b][1,4]diazepin-4-one (25) was determined and, in conjunction with the data from the literature, compared with the B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p) computed values. This allowed the determination of several structural effects. The rotation about the exocyclic N1-CR bond was also calculated and its dynamic properties were discussed.
