Project description:The title salt, C(16)H(18)N(6)O(2) (2+)·2ClO(4) (-)·2H(2)O, was obtained unintentionally as a major product in the reaction of Zn(ClO(4))(2)·6H(2)O with the N',N'(2)-bis-[(1E)-1-(2-pyrid-yl)ethyl-idene]ethanedihydrazide (H(2)L) ligand. The (H(4)L)(2+) cation lies across a centre of inversion. The pyridiniumimine fragments of (H(4)L)(2+) adopt syn orientations. Intra-molecular N-H⋯N and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds lead to the formation of S(5) motifs. In the crystal, neighbouring cations are connected by π-π inter-actions between pyridinium units with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.600 (1) Å. Moreover, the crystal components are assembled into two-dimensional layers via N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, with no direct hydrogen-bonding inter-actions between cations.

Project description:The title compound, C10H10N4 2+·NO3 -·ClO4 -, was obtained unexpectedly by the reaction of Co(ClO4)2·6H2O and cytidine-5'-monophosphate with 4,4'-azo-pyridine in an aqueous solution of nitric acid. The mol-ecular structure comprises two planar 4,4'-diazenediyldipyridinium dications lying on inversion centres and perchlorate and nitrate anions in general positions. In the crystal, N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between dications and anions lead to the formation of [232] chains.

4,4'-Imino-dipyridinium bis-(hydrogen phthalate).

Project description:In the title salt, C(10)H(11)N(3) (2+)·2C(8)H(5)O(4) (-), doubly protonated 4,4'-dipyridylamine (dpa) cations participate in N-H⋯O hydrogen bonding with two hydrogen phthalate anions to form a neutral unit. Both anions contain an intramolecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond. In the crystal structure, these units form two-dimensional layers through π-π stacking inter-actions with a centroid-to-centroid distance of 3.763 (3) Å. In turn, these layers aggregate in three dimensions by additional N-H⋯O hydrogen bonding. The assignment to the noncentrosymmetric space group P1 is corroborated by chemically unreasonable aromatic ring bond distances and poor K scale factor distributions for a disordered model in the centrosymmetric P space group.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, C(12)H(14)N(2) (2+)·2C(7)H(5)O(3) (-), the cations and anions are linked via N-H?O hydrogen bonds and weak inter-molecular C-H?O inter-actions also occur. ?-? stacking is observed between the nearly parallel benzene and pyridine rings [dihedral angle = 6.03?(8)°], the centroid-centroid separation being 3.7546?(16)?Å. The 4,4'-(ethane-1,2-diyl)dipyridinium cation is centrosymmetric and the mid-point of the ethyl-ene C-C bond is located on an inversion center. An intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bond occurs in the anion.

Project description:The title compound, C(22)H(20)N(2)O(2) (2+)·2ClO(4) (-), was synthesized by the reaction of naphthalene-2,6-diol with pyridine-4-carbaldehyde, 4-picolylamine and perchloric acid. There is a centre of symmetry at the mid-point of the central C-C bond of the cation. The two pyridine rings are parallel to each other, and the dihedral angle between the naphthalene ring system and the pyridine ring is 80.68 (11)°. All the bond lengths and angles are normal. Classical inter-molecular O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds connect cations and anions, forming a one-dimensional chain structure.

In the crystal, inter-molecular O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the cations and anions into supra-molecular double chains, which are further connected into a three-dimensional network through inter-molecular C-H⋯O and π-π stacking between parallel pyridine rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.4413 (12)Å] and between parallel benzene rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.6116 (14)Å].
