ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(14)H(10)N(2)O, the benzoyl ring and benzimidazole ring system are aligned at a dihedral angle of 50.2?(2)°. In the crystal, inter-molecular N-H?N hydrogen bonds between adjacent imidazole groups generate supra-molecular C(4) chains running along the b axis.

Project description:In the title centrosymmetric mononuclear copper(II) compound, [Cu(C(14)H(9)O(3))(2)(C(7)H(6)N(2))(2)], the central Cu(II) ion is coordinated by two N atoms from two symmetry-related benzimidazole (bim) ligands and two O atoms from two symmetry-related 2-benzoyl-benzoate (2-byba) ligands in a square-planar geometry. The mol-ecules are linked into chains running along the b axis by N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and the chains are cross-linked by C-H⋯π inter-actions.

5-Amino-1-methyl-1H-benzimidazole.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, C(8)H(9)N(3), a potential anti-tumour drug, was determined in order to give more insight into its structure-function relationships. The benzimidazole core of the mol-ecule was found to be exactly planar, while the substituents are displaced slightly from the mol-ecular plane [C-C-N-C and C-C-C-N torsion angles of 0.8?(3) and 179.0?(1)° for the methyl and amino groups, respectively]. The bond lengths are analysed in detail and compared with those of the parent unsubstituted analogues. The results show that the lone-pair electrons on the amino N atom are involved in conjugation with the adjacent ? system and hence affect the charge distribution in the heterocycle. Two inter-molecular N-H?N and C-H?N hydrogen bonds have been identified.

Project description:The title compound, C(8)H(7)N(3)O(2), a potential anti-tumour drug and an anti-oxidant agent, was studied in order to give more insight into structure-function relationships. The 1-methyl-benzimidazole unit of the mol-ecule was found to be exactly planar and the nitro group is inclined at an angle of 10.4 (2)° to the plane of the heterocycle. The bond lengths in the present derivative were analyzed in details and compared with those of the parent unsubstituted analogues in the Cambridge Structural Database. The results have shown that the additional nitro group is not involved in conjugation with the adjacent π-system and hence has no effect on the charge distribution of the heterocyclic ring.

Project description:The title compound, C12H9N3, is an unhydrated analogue of the previously reported trihydrate. The mol-ecule is essentially planar, with a 3.62 (11)° angle between the pyridine and benzimidazole planes. In the crystal, N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds result in chains of mol-ecules parallel to [010], which are additionally linked by weak π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.7469 (17) Å], resulting in extended sheets of molecules parallel to (103).

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(18)H(22)N(2), contains two independent mol-ecules which differ slightly with respect to the torsion angles involving the atoms joining the adamantyl and benzimidazole groups. The bond angles in the adamantane cage vary within the range 108.27 (9)-110.55 (10)°. The benzimidazole ring system in both mol-ecules is essentially planar, the maximum deviations from the best planes being 0.0134 (15) and 0.0229 (14) Å. In the crystal, weak C-H⋯π inter-actions link the molecules.

Project description:The reaction of 1H-benzimidazole-5-carb-oxy-lic acid with silver nitrate in the presence of perchloric acid under hydro-thermal conditions yielded the title complex, [Ag(C(8)H(6)N(2)O(2))(2)]ClO(4), which comprises of an [Ag(C(8)H(6)N(2)O(2))(2)] mononuclear cation and a perchlorate anion. The Ag(I) ion is coordinated by two N atoms from two different neutral 1H-benzimidazole-5-carb-oxy-lic acid ligands with an N-Ag-N bond angle of 163.21 (14)°, forming an [Ag(C(8)H(6)N(2)O(2))(2)] mononuclear cation. Although both ligands in the mononuclear cation are monodentate with one N atom coordinated to the metal ion, they are different: one is N(3) coordinated to the Ag (I) ion and the N(1) atom protonated, the other with the N(1) coordinated to the Ag (I) ion and the N(3) atom protonated (and thus formally a 1H-benzimidazole-6-carb-oxy-lic acid rather than a 1H-benzimidazole-5-carb-oxy-lic acid ligand). The planes of the two planar ligands are roughly perpendicular, making a dihedral angle of 84.97 (2)°. The packing of the ions is stablized by extensive O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, and by remote Ag⋯O inter-actions [3.002 (3), 3.581 (5) and 3.674 (5) Å].
