ABSTRACT: In the title salt, C(14)H(23)N(2)O(3) (+)·C(20)H(12)O(4)P(-), the dihedral angle between the two naphthyl ring systems in the anion is 57.77?(6)°. In the crystal, an O-H?O hydrogen bond links the components. The ammonium group engages in N-H?O hydrogen bonds, generating a layer structure.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, C(6)H(16)N(+)·C(20)H(12)O(4)P(-), an N-H?O inter-action links the cation to the anion. The N atom in the triethyl-ammonium cation exhibits a trigonal-bipyramidal coordination geometry and forms an N-H?O inter-action with one phosphate O atom of the 1,1'-binaphthyl-2,2'-diyl phosphate ligand. A bifurcated C-H?O inter-action with the other phosphate O atom links molecules along the a axis. The dihedral angle between the two naphthyl ring systems is 58.92?(3)°. The refined Flack parameter value of 0.50?(10) indicates inversion twinning.

Project description:In the title co-crystal, C(22)H(14)O(4)·CH(4)N(2)O, the 1,1'-binaphthyl-2,2'-dicarboxylic acid (BNDA) and urea mol-ecules are connected via a system of hydrogen bonds into a chiral two-dimensional polymeric structure parallel to the (001) plane. As the crystal is centrosymmetric, it consists of alternately stacked BNDA-urea layers of opposite chirality. The urea H atoms trans to the C=O group are bonded in a chelating mode [R(1) (2)(6)] to the carbonyl O atom from one of the carboxylic acid groups which, in turn, acts as the donor of an O-H?O hydrogen bond to another urea mol-ecule. The [010] chains thus formed are further connected via an R(2) (2)(8) hydrogen-bond motif formed between urea and the second carboxylic acid group of BNDA.
