2,4,6-Trimethyl-pyridinium dihydrogen phosphate.

ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(8)H(12)N(+)·H(2)PO(4) (-), contains two H(2)PO(4) (-) anions and two 2,4,6-trimethyl-pyridinium cations. In the crystal, the anions are linked by O-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming supra-molecular chains running along the a axis; the cations are connected to the anion chains by N-H?O hydrogen bonds. Weak inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonding is also present in the crystal structure.

In the crystal, anions and cations are linked by O-H?O and ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.4574?(6)?Å], forming chains parallel to the b axis. Adjacent chains are further connected by N-H?O hydrogen bonds into a two-dimensional network.

A long chain-like stacking of dihydrogenphosphate anions along the c-axis direction is constructed by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. Also along the c-axis direction, π-π stacking between inversion-related pyridinium rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.8051 (10) Å] forms columnar stacks of cations.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, (C(8)H(12)N)(2)[PtCl(6)], contains one independent protonated 2,4,6-trimethyl-pyridinium cation and one half of a centrosymmetric [PtCl(6)](2-) anion. The Pt ion has an almost ideal octa-hedral coordination. In the crystal structure, intra-molecular N-H?Cl and inter-molecular C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds result in the formation of a supra-molecular structure.

The Zn-Br bond lengths range from 2.3901?(19) to 2.449?(2)?Å and the Br-Zn-Br angles range from 107.09?(8) to 112.48?(8)°. In the crystal, each [ZnBr(4)](2-) anion is connected to four cations through two N-H?Br and two C-H?Br hydrogen bonds, forming two-dimensional ?(cation)(2)?anion?(cation(2))? sheets parallel to the bc plane. O-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions involving the H(2)PO(4) (-) anions and H(3)PO(4) mol-ecules provide additional support from the inorganic groups Weak ?-? stacking inter-actions between the pyridine rings of neighbouring organic mol-ecules [centroid-centroid distances = 3.711?(4) and 3.784?(2)?Å] further link the layers into a three-dimensional network.
