ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(15)H(13)BrN(2), the benzimidazole group is almost planar, as indicated by the dihedral angle of 2.6?(3)° between the best planes through the benzene and imidazole rings. The best plane through the attached benzene makes an angle of 44.5?(2)° with the best plane through the benzimidazole system. C-H?? inter-actions are observed in the crystal structure.

Project description:There are two mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C20H14Br2N2. In the first, the dihedral angles between the mean plane of the benzimidazole group and those of the 4-bromo-benzyl and 4-chloro-phenyl groups are 50.72?(17) and 71.29?(16)°, respectively, while the corresponding angles in the second mol-ecule are 42.09?(16) and 89.05?(17)°. The 4-bromo-benzyl and 4-bromo-phenyl groups make an angle of 68.1?(2) and 85.1?(21)° with each other in the two mol-ecules. In the crystal, weak C-H?N and C-H?Br hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules along the c-axis direction. Br?Br inter-actions [3.5733?(9)Å] are also observed.

Project description:In the crystal, the mol-ecules of the title compound, C(15)H(10)BrNO, are connected into centrosymmetric dimers by pairs of N-H?O hydrogen bonds. The dihedral angle between the planes of indole ring system and benzene ring is 50.13?(5)°. The indole plane is significantly less twisted from the plane of the central C-C(=O)-C bridge than the benzene plane [dihedral angles = 15.51?(3) and 40.13?(7)°, respectively]. The bond angles within the benzene ring show an approximately additive effect of the influence of both substituents.

A further twist is evident by the dihedral angle of 64.48?(16)° between the triazole ring and the attached benzene ring. In the crystal, C-H?N, C-H?F, C-H?? and ?-? inter-actions [occurring between the thia-zole and triazole rings, centroid-centroid distance = 3.571?(2)?Å] link mol-ecules into a three-dimensional architecture. The sample studied was a non-merohedral twin; the minor twin component refined to 47.16?(7)%.

The compound exhibits rotational disorder of the 5-bromo-thio-phen-2-yl substituent with a refined major:minor occupancy ratio of 0.876 (7):0.124 (7). The 5-bromo-thio-phen-2-yl mean plane is canted to the benzimidazole plane by 20.0 (4) and 21 (4)° in the major and minor components, respectively. In the crystal, weak C-H⋯N inter-actions link the mol-ecules into infinite C(7) chains along the 21 axes.

Project description:There are two crystallographically independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(18)H(12)Br(2)N(2)O. In each mol-ecule, one of the bromo-phenyl rings lies almost in the plane of pyrazole unit [dihedral angles of 5.8 (3)° in the first mol-ecule and and 5.1 (3)° in the second] while the other ring is approximately perpendicular to it [dihedral angles of 80.3 (3) and 76.5 (3)°]. The crystal packing shows inter-molecular C-H⋯O inter-actions. The crystal studied was a racemic twin.
