ABSTRACT: The title salt, (C(18)H(26)N(2))[CdBr(2.375)Cl(1.625)], consists of non-inter-acting cations and tetra-hedral cadmate(II) anions. The halogen atoms are all disordered, the bromine components being in 0.9035?(17):0.0965?(17), 0.6581?(18):0.3419?(18), 0.5019?(19):0.4981?(19) and 0.6847?(19):0.3153?(18) ratios. The aromatic rings of the cation are twisted by 25.0?(1)°.

Project description:In the title compound, C(12)H(14)N(2) (2+)·2I(3) (-), the 1,1'-dimethyl-4,4'-bipyridinium (DMBP) dication is charge balanced by two triiodide ions. The DMBP dication is planar within 0.010 (5) Å. The asymmetric unit contains only half of the dication, the other half being generated by an inversion center. Weak C-H⋯I inter-actions link the ions into sheets parallel to (121).

Project description:The title compound, [Sn(2)(C(4)H(9))(2)(C(12)H(20))(2)], has two 1-stannacyclo-penta-diene skeletons related by inversion symmetry located at the mid-point of the Sn-Sn bond [2.7682 (2) Å]. Thus, the asymmetric unit comprises one half-mol-ecule. The planarity of the stannacyclo-penta-diene ring is illustrated by the dihedral angle of 0.3 (1)°, defined by the C(4) and C-Sn-C planes. To avoid steric repulsion, the two stannole rings are oriented in an anti fashion through the Sn-Sn bond. These structural features are similar to those of other bis-tannoles.

The Hg(II) atom is five-coordinated in a trigonal-bipyramidal configuration by two N atoms from the chelating 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine ligand, two bridging Br and one terminal Br atom, leading to a centrosymmetric dimeric mol-ecule. There is a π-π contact between the pyridine rings [centroid-to-centroid distance = 3.756 (5) Å].

Project description:In the title compound, C(18)H(24)N(2), the mol-ecular unit adopts a trans conformation around the central C-C bond [N-C-C-N torsion angle of 179.2?(3)°], with the two aromatic rings almost coplanar [dihedral angle of only 0.70?(4)°]. Complexation of 2,6-helic[6]arene and its derivatives with 1,1'-dimethyl-4,4'-bipyridinium salts and protonated 4,4'-bipyridinium salts: an acid-base controllable complexation.

Project description:2,6-Helic[6]arene and its derivatives were synthesized, and their complexation with 1,1'-dimethyl-4,4'-bipyridinium and protonated 4,4'-bipyridinium salts were investigated in detail. It was found that the helic[6]arene and its derivatives could all form 1:1 complexes with both 1,1'-dimethyl-4,4'-bipyridinium salts and protonated 4,4'-bipyridinium salts in solution and in the solid state. Especially, the helic[6]arene and its derivatives containing 2-hydroxyethoxy or 2-methoxyethoxy groups exhibited stronger complexation with the guests than the other helic[6]arene derivatives for the additional multiple hydrogen bonding interactions between the hosts and the guests, which were evidenced by 1H NMR titrations, X-ray crystal structures and DFT calculations. Moreover, it was also found that the association constants (K a) of the complexes could be significantly enhanced with larger counteranions of the guests and in less polar solvents. Furthermore, the switchable complexation between the helic[6]arene and protonated 4,4'-bipyridinium salt could be efficiently controlled by acids and bases.

Project description:In the title compound, C(18)H(26)N(2) (2+)·2Cl(-), the complete dication is generated by crystallographic inversion symmetry; both N atoms are protonated and engaged in strong and highly directional N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds. Additional weak C-H?Cl contacts promote the formation of a tape along ca. [110]. The crystal structure can be described by the parallel packing of these tapes. The crystal studied was a non-merohedral twin with twin law [-1 0 0, 0 -1 0, -0.887 0.179 1] and the final BASF parameter refining to 0.026?(2) .
