ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Eu(NO(3))(C(6)H(5)NO(2))(2)(H(2)O)(4)](NO(3))(2), consists of one-half of the C(2) symmetric coordination cation and one nitrate anion. The eight-coordinated Eu(III) atom is in a distorted dodeca-hedral coordination environment. The coordination cations and nitrate anions are connected via O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional network.

Project description:Hexa-aqua-zinc(II) dinitrate 5-(pyridinium-3-yl)tetra-zol-1-ide, [Zn(H2O)6](NO3)2·2C6H5N5, crystallizes in the space group P . The asymmetric unit contains one zwitterionic 5-(pyridinium-3-yl)tetra-zol-1-ide mol-ecule, one NO3- anion and one half of a [Zn(H2O)6]2+ cation ( symmetry). The pyridinium and tetra-zolide rings in the zwitterion are nearly coplanar, with a dihedral angle of 5.4 (2)°. Several O-H⋯N and N-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions exist between the [Zn(H2O)6]2+ cation and the N atoms of the tetra-zolide ring, and between the nitrate anions and the N-H groups of the pyridinium ring, respectively, giving rise to a three-dimensional network. The 5-(pyridinium-3-yl)tetra-zol-1-ide mol-ecules show parallel-displaced π-π stacking inter-actions; the centroid-centroid distance between adjacent tetra-zolide rings is 3.6298 (6) Å and that between the pyridinium and tetra-zolide rings is 3.6120 (5) Å.

Project description:The title organic-inorganic salt, (C(7)H(11)N(2))(2)[LaCl(H(2)O)(8)]Cl(4)·3H(2)O, consists of two 4-(dimethyl-amino)-pyridinium and one [La(H(2)O)(8)Cl](2+) cations, four chloride anions and three solvent water mol-ecules. In the crystal, the various units are connected by N-H⋯Cl, O-H⋯Cl, O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a network of alternating organic and inorganic layers. The 4-(dimethyl-amino)-pyridinium cations stack along the c axis, while the inorganic layers lie parallel to the ac plane. The chloride anions are located between these entities, forming hydrogen bonds with the NH atom of the pyridinium ions and the water mol-ecules. There are also C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds present involving one of the 4-(dimethyl-amino)-pyridinium cations, resulting in the formation of a three-dimensional supra-molecular architecture.

The Bi(3+) ion lies on the twofold axis. It is coordinated by two nitro-gen atoms from one 2,2'-bipyridine ligand and eight oxygen atoms from four NO(3) (-) anions. The disordered cation is positioned at the inversion centre. The [Bi(NO(3))(4)(C(10)H(8)N(2))](-) anions and 2-(2-pyrid-yl)pyridinium cations are connected via N-H?O hydrogen bonds into chains. Two symmetry-related asymmetric units constitute a building block of the structure, in which both ligand carboxyl-ate O atoms are bidentate and bridge the metal ions, forming a divalent cation. Two water O atoms are each disordered over two positions; for both the site occupany factors are ca 0.66 and 0.34.
