ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(16)H(26)ClNO(3) contains one almost planar furan-one ring [maximum deviation of 0.021?(2)?Å for the O atom] with a stereogenic center (S) and one cyclo-hexane ring which displays a chair conformation and has three stereogenic centers [S at the C atom bearing the isopropyl group, R at the C atom attached to the O atom and R at the C atom bearing the methyl group].

In the crystal, the hydrogen atoms of the methyl-ene groups form several short inter-molecular C-H⋯O contacts with the carbonyl oxygen atoms of an adjacent mol-ecule. The only active amino hydrogen atom is not involved in hydrogen bonding.

Its crystal structure has been determined from barely adequate data obtained from a multi-fragment needle crystal. In the crystal, N-H?O hydrogen bonds link M mol-ecules related by translation along the a axis into two independent chains. The ordered solvent mol-ecule, having a partial occupancy of 0.334, is attached to one independent M mol-ecule through O-H?O hydrogen bonds. The crystal packing exhibits weak inter-molecular C-H?O inter-actions and voids of 270?Å(3) filled with randomly disordered solvent mol-ecules which were handled using the SQUEEZE methodology.

The cyclo-hexene ring adopts a half-boat conformation. The cyclo-propyl ring is unsymmetrical, the shortest C-C bond being distal to the alkyl-substituted C atom. The crystal packing is stabilized only by van der Waals inter-actions.
