ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(28)H(27)NO(6)S·0.5CHCl(3), the ethyl acrylate substituent adopts an extented conformation with all torsion angles close to 180°. The chloro-form solvent mol-ecule is disordered across an inversion centre and is therefore half occupied. The mol-ecular packing is controlled by inter-molecular C-H?O inter-actions.

Project description:In the title compound, C(21)H(19)NO(6), the isoindole ring system is essentially planar [maximum deviation = 0.019?(2)?Å for the N atom] and is oriented at a dihedral angle of 51.3?(1)° with respect to the benzene ring. The two meth-oxy groups are almost coplanar with the attached benzene ring [C-O-C-C = 3.7?(4) and 4.3?(4)°]. The mol-ecular conformation is stabilized by an intra-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bond, which generates an S(9) ring motif. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked through bifurcated C-H?(O,O) hydrogen bonds having R(1) (2)(5) ring motifs, forming chains along the b-axis direction. The pyrimidine rings are nearly planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.006?Å in one mol-ecule and 0.009?Å in the other); the C atom at the 5-position deviates by 0.083?(3)?Å [0.064?(3)?Å in the second mol-ecule] from the mean plane and the C atom at the 6-position by 0.034?(3)?Å [0.082?(3)?Å in the second mol-ecule]. In each mol-ecule, the benzene ring is nearly perpendicular to the pyrimidine ring, the dihedral angle is 88.51?(8)° in one mol-ecule and 84.70?(8)° in the other.
