Project description:In the title compound, C(30)H(48)BNOP(2)·0.5H(2)O, the water molecule is disordered about an inversion centre. Both phospho-rus atoms shows distortions in their tetra-hedral environments with the cyclo-hexyl substituents disordered over two orientations in a 0.851 (3):0.149 (3) occupancy ratio. The crystal structure is assembled via O-H⋯O inter-actions between pairs of phosphininc amide mol-ecules and water molecules, creating hydrogen-bonded dimers with graph-set R(2) (4)(8) along [001]. Weak C-H⋯O inter-actions are also observed.

Manganese-Hydroxido Complexes Supported by a Urea/Phosphinic Amide Tripodal Ligand.

Project description:Hydrogen bonds (H-bonds) within the secondary coordination sphere are often invoked as essential noncovalent interactions that lead to productive chemistry in metalloproteins. Incorporating these types of effects within synthetic systems has proven a challenge in molecular design that often requires the use of rigid organic scaffolds to support H-bond donors or acceptors. We describe the preparation and characterization of a new hybrid tripodal ligand ([H2pout]3-) that contains two monodeprotonated urea groups and one phosphinic amide. The urea groups serve as H-bond donors, while the phosphinic amide group serves as a single H-bond acceptor. The [H2pout]3- ligand was utilized to stabilize a series of Mn-hydroxido complexes in which the oxidation state of the metal center ranges from 2+ to 4+. The molecular structure of the MnIII-OH complex demonstrates that three intramolecular H-bonds involving the hydroxido ligand are formed. Additional evidence for the formation of intramolecular H-bonds was provided by vibrational spectroscopy in which the energy of the O-H vibration supports its assignment as an H-bond donor. The stepwise oxidation of [MnIIH2pout(OH)]2- to its higher oxidized analogs was further substantiated by electrochemical measurements and results from electronic absorbance and electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopies. Our findings illustrate the utility of controlling both the primary and secondary coordination spheres to achieve structurally similar Mn-OH complexes with varying oxidation states.

Project description:The P atom in the title mol-ecule, C(15)H(20)F(2)N(3)O(2)P, is in a distorted tetra-hedral P(O)(N)(N)(2) environment. The phosphoryl group and the NH unit adopt a syn orientation with respect to each other. An F atom at position 2 and an H atom at position 6 are found to occupy similar sites in a 0.70:0.30 ratio and were refined with fixed occupancies. The pyrrolidin-1-yl rings are disordered over two sets of sites, with site occupancies of 0.566 (6) and 0.434 (6), and were refined using a two-part model. In the crystal, hydrogen-bonded dimers linked by pairs of N-H⋯O(P) hydrogen bonds generate an R(2) (2)(8) ring motif.

Cobalt-Catalyzed, Aminoquinoline-Directed Functionalization of Phosphinic Amide sp2 C-H Bonds.

Project description:In this paper, we introduce arylphosphinic acid aminoquinoline amides as competent substrates for cobalt-catalyzed sp2 C-H bond functionalization. Specifically, the feasibility of their coupling with alkynes, alkenes, and allyl pivalate has been demonstrated. Reactions are catalyzed by simple Co(NO3)2 hydrate in ethanol or mixed dioxane/tBuOH solvent in the presence of Mn(OAc)3·2H2O additive, sodium pivalate, or acetate base and use oxygen from the air as an oxidant. Directing group removal affords ortho-functionalized P,P-diarylphosphinic acids.

Project description:The phosphoryl and carbonyl groups in the title compound, C(15)H(20)F(2)N(3)O(2)P, are anti with respect to each other (but the P- and C-groups are separated by another atom) and the P atom is in a tetra-hedral coordination environment. Two C atoms in one of the pyrrolidinyl fragments are disordered over two sets of sites with occupancies of 0.746 (8) and 0.254 (8). The environments of the pyrrolidinyl N atoms show a slight deviation from planarity and none of the three N atoms is involved in any hydrogen bond as an acceptor. In the crystal, pairs of inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds form inversion dimers.

In the solid state, intra-molecular N-H⋯S hydrogen bonding influences the mol-ecular conformation; a P-N-P-N torsion angle of 2.28 (9)° is observed. The two phenyl rings attached to one P atom form a dihedral angle of 74.02 (4)°.

Project description:The mol-ecular structure of the title compound, C(22)H(34)N(3)OP, adopts a distorted tetra-hedral geometry at the P atom, with the most noticeable distortion being for the O-P-N angle [117.53 (10)°]. An effective cone angle of 187° was calculated for the compound. In the crystal, weak C-H⋯O inter-actions create infinite chains along [100], whereas C-H⋯π inter-actions propagating in [001] generate a herringbone motif.

Project description:Aminoquinoline-directed, palladium-catalyzed sp3 C-H bond arylation in phosphonamidates and phosphinic amides is reported. The reaction employs Pd(OAc)2 as a catalyst at 10 mol% loading and cesium phosphate or potassium carbonate as a base in 1,2-dichlorobenzene as a solvent. The directing group can be removed under basic conditions to afford phosphonic acid esters. The chemistry described here is the first example of unactivated sp3 C-H bond arylation by using a phosphorus-containing directing group.
