The protein transporter anthrax lethal toxin is composed of protective antigen (PA), a transmembrane translocase, and lethal factor (LF), a cytotoxic enzyme. After its assembly into holotoxin complexes, PA forms an oligomeric channel that unfolds LF and translocates it into the host cell.
