A new Mo Schiff base complex: methanol[N'-(3-meth-oxy-2-oxidobenzyl-idene)benzohydrazidato]dioxido-molybdenum(VI).

ABSTRACT: In the title benzil-idene Schiff base molybdenum(VI) complex, [Mo(C(15)H(12)N(2)O(3))O(2)(CH(3)OH)], the Mo(VI) ion is coordinated by two oxide O atoms and by two O atoms and one N atom of the tridentate N'-(3-meth-oxy-2-oxidobenzyl-idene)benzo-hydrazidate (L) Schiff base ligand. The methanol O atom completes the distorted octa-hedral configuration of the Mo(VI) atom. Strong O-H?N hydrogen bonds form a C(5) chain around a 2(1) screw axis. Weak C-H-O hydrogen bonds are also present.

Project description:In the title dioxidomolybdenum(VI) complex, [Mo(C(17)H(16)N(2)O(5))O(2)(CH(3)OH)], the Mo(VI) atom is coordinated by the phenolate O, imine N and enolic O atoms of the tridentate hydrazone ligand, one methanol O atom, and two oxide O atoms, forming a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. The oxide O atoms adopt a cis conformation: one is trans to the methanol O atom and the other is trans to the ligand N atom. The dihedral angle between the two benzene rings in the hydrazone ligand is 4.0?(3)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by O-H?N and O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The coordination geometry at the Mo(VI) atom in the title compound, [Mo(C(16)H(14)N(2)O(4))O(2)(C(2)H(6)OS)], is distorted octa-hedral. The phenolate O, imino N, oxide O from the enolized carbonyl group and one of the terminal O atoms form the equatorial plane; the axial positions are occupied by the other terminal O atom of the dioxidomolybdenum group and the donor O atom of DMSO. The O=Mo=O angle is 105.31?(6)°. An intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bond and weak inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds are present in the structure.

Project description:In the title complex, [V(C(15)H(12)N(2)O(4))(CH(3)O)O], the V(V) ion exhibits a distorted square-pyramidal coordination geometry; three donor atoms from a hydrazone ligand and one O atom of the deprotonated methanol define the coordination basal plane. The V(V) ion is displaced by 0.464?(1)?Å from the basal plane towards the axial oxide O atom. Intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bonding occurs. Inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonding is also observed in the crystal structure.

The sixth coordination site of molybdenum is occupied by the O atom of a methanol mol-ecule. In this complex, the NO5 coordination sphere adopts a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. The metal atom is shifted by 0.335?(1)?Å from the square plane defined by the three donor atoms of the Schiff base ligand and one oxide group towards the second oxide group in the cis position. In the crystal, the complex forms inversion dimers through a pair of O-H?N hydrogen bonds involving the methanol -OH group and the pyridine N atom. Additional C-H?O contacts stack the mol-ecules along the b axis.
