As well as Columbic and van der Waals forces, moleucles inter-act via multiple bifurcated N-H?O hydrogen bonds that help consolidate the crystal packing, resulting in a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The title compound, (C7H10NO)[SnCl3], is a new compound with non-linear optical (NLO) properties. The structure is pseudocentrosymmetric; the absence of an inversion centre was proved by the Kurtz and Perry method showing a significant second harmonic generation (SHG) signal about ten times lower than that from potassium dihydrogenphosphate. The crystal structure exhibits alternating organic and inorganic layers parallel to the ab plane, which are stabilized by inter-molecular N-H⋯Cl inter-actions.

4-Meth-oxy-benzamidinium nitrate.

Project description:The title salt, C8H11N2O(+)·NO3(-), was synthesized by a reaction between 4-meth-oxy-benzamidine (4-amidino-anisole) and nitric acid. The asymmetric unit comprises a non-planar 4-meth-oxy-benzamidinium cation and a nitrate anion. In the cation, the amidinium group has two similar C-N bond lengths [1.302 (3) and 1.313 (3) Å] and its plane forms a dihedral angle of 32.66 (5)° with the mean plane of the benzene ring. The nitrate-amidinium ion pair is not planar, as the dihedral angle between the planes defined by the CN2(+) and NO3(-) units is 19.28 (6)°. The ionic components are associated in the crystal via N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, resulting in a three-dimensional network.

In the anion the carb-oxy-lic acid and carboxyl-ate groups make dihedral angles of 19.0?(2) and 79.5?(2)°, respectively, with the benzene ring. Aminium N-H?O, carb-oxy-lic acid O-H?O and weak aromatic C-H?O hydrogen-bonding associations with carboxyl O-atom acceptors together with cation-anion ?-? ring inter-actions [minimum ring centroid separation = 3.734?(3)?Å] give rise to a sheet structure lying parallel to (001).

Project description:The title compound, C7H8NO2(+)·NO3(-)·C7H7NO2, exists in the form of a protonated dimer of two anilinium-3-carboxyl-ate mol-ecules related by an inversion center, and a nitrate anion located on a twofold rotation axis. The bridging H atom occupies, with equal probability, the two sites associated with the carboxyl atoms. In addition to the strong O-H?O hydrogen bond, in the crystal, the various units are linked via N-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds forming a three-dimensional structure.

An intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond is also found in the anion. In the crystal, the anions self-assemble via O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a C(9) supra-molecular chain the b axis. Further inter-molecular N-H⋯O inter-actions also occur.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, (C7H10NO)2[SnBr6]·2H2O, contains one cation, one half-dianion and one lattice water mol-ecule. The [SnBr6](2-) dianion, located on an inversion center, exhibits a highly distorted octa-hedral coordination environment, with Sn-Br bond lengths ranging from 2.2426 (9) to 3.0886 (13) Å. In the crystal, O-H⋯Br, N-H⋯Br, N-H⋯O and C-H⋯Br hydrogen bonds consolidate the packing, which can be described as consisting of alternating anionic (containing dianions and lattice water mol-ecules) and cationic layers parallel to ab plane.
