Resorcinol-triethyl-enediamine (1/1).

ABSTRACT: The title co-crystal, C(6)H(12)N(2)·C(6)H(6)O(2), is composed of neutral resorcinol and triethyl-enediamine mol-ecules in which the resorcinol mol-ecules came from the in situ deca-rboxylation of 2,4-dihy-droxy-benzoic acid. In the crystal, the components are connected by O-H?N hydrogen bonds, forming a chain in the b-axis direction.

Project description:In the title compound, C(6)H(8)N(2), there are four mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit, with each mol-ecule, including the H atoms on the N atoms of the amino groups, showing local C2 symmetry. In the crystal structure, all except one of the NH(2) groups participate in N-H⋯O hydrogen bonding. The identified hydrogen bonds furnish a three-dimensional network. N-H⋯π contacts are observed with H⋯π distances ranging from 2.516 (17) to 2.815 (16) Å. No π-stacking of the aromatic rings is observed.

Project description:IN THE CRYSTAL STRUCTURE OF THE TITLE COMPOUND (SYSTEMATIC NAME: triethyl-ammonium 2,5-dichloro-4-hy-droxy-3,6-dioxo-cyclo-hexa-1,4-dien-1-olate), C(6)H(16)N(+)·C(6)HCl(2)O(4) (-), two hydrogen chloranilate anions are connected by a pair of bifurcated O-H?O hydrogen bonds into a dimeric unit. The triethyl-ammonium cations are linked on both sides of the dimer via bifurcated N-H?O hydrogen bonds into a centrosymmetric 2:2 aggregate. The 2:2 aggregates are further linked by inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Resorcinol-Based Grp94-Selective Inhibitors.

Project description:Glucose regulated protein 94 (Grp94) is the endoplasmic reticulum resident of the 90 kDa heat shock protein (Hsp90) family and represents a promising therapeutic target for the treatment of several diseases. Grp94 is the most unique member of the 90 kDa heat shock protein family due to a five amino acid insertion into its primary sequence, which creates hydrophobic subpockets exclusive to Grp94 that can be utilized for selective inhibition. The first resorcinol-based Grp94-selective inhibitor to take advantage of the hydrophobic S2 subpocket has been developed and shown to manifest low nanomolar affinity and ?10-fold selectivity for Grp94. Furthermore, these Grp94-selective inhibitors manifest low micromolar GI50 values against multiple myeloma cells, supporting Grp94 as an emerging target for the treatment of this disease.

Pressure-Promoted Solvation of Resorcinol.

Project description:Under ambient conditions resorcinol (Res), C6H4(OH)2, favorably crystallizes from methanol and aqueous solutions as the anhydrate, in the form of polymorph α at room temperature. Anhydrous polymorph β can be obtained above 360 K. However, above 0.80 GPa the monohydrate Res·H2O is formed from the aqueous solution. The monohydrate is less stable than the duotritohydrate 3Res·2H2O, which nucleates later. The latter forms a tight passivation layer on the surface of monohydrate crystals and protects them from dissolution. Between 0.20 and 1.0 GPa the duotritohydrate is more favored than the previously reported Res polymorphs α and β. From a methanol solution above 0.40 GPa the methanol monosolvate Res·CH3OH precipitates. In Res·H2O resorcinol molecules assume the syn-syn conformation, and in 3Res·2H2O independent syn-syn and anti-anti conformers are present. The anti-anti molecule is orientationally disordered, despite the fact that usually the disorder requires extra space, while the high pressure suppresses the volume. In all three new solvates, the solvent molecules mediate the H bonding between the hydroxyl groups. The formation of solvates can be rationalized by the low potential energy of syn-syn conformers as well as the volume gain of the solvates in comparison to the summed volumes of the pure resorcinol crystal and stoichiometric amounts of the solvent. The strong preference of the analogous orcinol (5-methylresorcinol) for the monohydrate formation under normal conditions is unchanged under high pressure.

Tris(ethyl-enediamine)cobalt(II) sulfate.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, [Co(II)(C(2)H(8)N(2))(3)]SO(4), the cobalt example of [M(C(2)H(8)N(2))(3)]SO(4), is reported. The Co and S atoms are located at the 2d and 2c Wyckoff sites (point symmetry 32), respectively. The Co atom is coordinated by six N atoms of three chelating ethyl-enediamine mol-ecules generated from half of the ethyl-enediamine mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit. The O atoms of the sulfate anion are disordered mostly over two crystallographic sites. The third disorder site of O (site symmetry 3) has a site occupancy approaching zero. The H atoms of the ethyl-enediamine mol-ecules inter-act with the sulfate anions via inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions.

Project description:In the title compound, [Mn(C(2)H(8)N(2))(3)]SO(4), the metal atom (site symmetry 3.2) is coordinated by six N atoms from three ethyl-enediamine (en) ligands in a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry. The en ligands are generated from one half-mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit. The O atoms of the sulfate anion (S site symmetry 3.2) are disordered over four orientations in a 0.220 (12):0.210 (13):0.203 (14):0.10 (2) ratio, with one of the O atoms having site symmetry 3. In the crystal, the ions are connected by N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title compound, C(6)H(16)N(+)·C(7)H(5)O(4) (-), the hy-droxy groups of the 3,4-dihy-droxy-benzoate anion form O-H?O hydrogen bonds to the carboxyl-ate groups of two adjacent anions, generating layers propagating in the ac plane. The triethyl-ammonium cations lie between these layers, forming N-H?O hydrogen bonds to the carboxyl-ate groups of the anions.
