ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Zn(C(2)H(8)N(2))(3)]Cl(2)·H(2)O, contains a discrete [Zn(C(2)H(8)N(2))(3)](2+) cation with a distorted octa-hedral geometry around Zn, two uncoordinated chloride ions and one water mol-ecule. The crystal structure exhibits N-H?O, N-H?Cl and O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, [Zn(C(2)H(8)N(2))(3)](SiF(6)), was synthesized ionothermally using choline chloride-imidazolidone as solvent and template provider. In the crystal structure, the anions and cations are located on special positions of site symmetry 3.2 and show a typical octa-hedral geometry. The Zn(II) ion is coordinated by six N atoms from three ethyl-enediamine mol-ecules. The crystal structure displays weak hydrogen bonding between [SiF(6)](2-) anions and the ethyl-enediamine NH hydrogen atoms.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, [Co(II)(C(2)H(8)N(2))(3)]SO(4), the cobalt example of [M(C(2)H(8)N(2))(3)]SO(4), is reported. The Co and S atoms are located at the 2d and 2c Wyckoff sites (point symmetry 32), respectively. The Co atom is coordinated by six N atoms of three chelating ethyl-enediamine mol-ecules generated from half of the ethyl-enediamine mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit. The O atoms of the sulfate anion are disordered mostly over two crystallographic sites. The third disorder site of O (site symmetry 3) has a site occupancy approaching zero. The H atoms of the ethyl-enediamine mol-ecules inter-act with the sulfate anions via inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions.

Project description:The title compound, [Co(II)(C2H8N2)3]Cl2, was obtained unexpectedly as the product of an attempted solvothermal synthesis of cobalt selenide from the elements in the presence of NH4Cl in ethyl-enedi-amine solvent. The three chelate rings of the distorted octa-hedral [Co(C2H8N2)3](2+) complex cation adopt twisted conformations about their C-C bonds. The spread of cis-N-Co-N bond angles [80.17?(6)-98.10?(6)°] in the title compound is considerably greater than the equivalent data for [Co(III)(C2H8N2)3]Cl3 [Takamizawa et al. (2008 ?). Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 47, 1689-1692]. In the crystal, the components are linked by numerous N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds, generating a three-dimensional network in which the cationic complexes are stacked in columns along [010] and separated by columns of chloride anions.

In the anion, the In(III) atom is coordin-ated by four O atoms from two oxalato ligands and two O atoms from two formato ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. Inter-molecular O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds form an extensive hydrogen-bonding network, which link the cations, anions and water mol-ecules into three-dimensional structure.
