Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title salt, C(4)H(12)N(+)·C(8)H(5)O(4) (-), contains one half of a tetra-methyl-ammonium cation and one half of a hydrogen terephthalate monoanion. The N atom of the ammonium cation lies on a twofold rotation axis and the centre of mass of the terephthalate anion is on a centre of inversion. In the crystal, the centrosymmetric terephthalate ions are linked by a very short symmetric O-H?O hydrogen bond [O?O = 2.4610?(19)?Å] into a one-dimensional polymeric chain along [1-12]. The tetra-methyl-ammonium cations and terephthalate anions are then connected through a pair of bifurcated acceptor C-H?O hydrogen bonds, generating a three-dimensional supra-molecular network. The carboxyl-ate groups at both ends of the terephthalate anion are charge-shared with an equal probability of 0.5.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title hydrated salt, 2C(4)H(12)N(+)·C(2)O(4) (2-)·H(2)O, the two independent cations, the anion and the water mol-ecule all lie on special positions of m site symmetry. In both cations, the mirror plane passes through the nitrogen atom and two methyl groups; in the anion, the mirror plane passes through two carbon and two oxygen atoms. The anions and water mol-ecules inter-act by O-H?O hydrogen bonding, forming a chain running along the b axis.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, C(4)H(12)N(+)·H(2)PO(4) (-)·0.5H(2)O, the anions form an infinite hydrogen-bonded chain along the [10] direction. The anion chains are connected by water mol-ecules, which lie on crystallographic twofold rotation axes, through O-H?O hydrogen bonds. These hydrogen bonds are almost perpendicular to the other hydrogen bonds which create an assembled structure of anions. In addition, C-H?O hydrogen bonds between anions and cations are observed.

Project description:In the title compound, (CH(3))(4)N(+)·0.5C(8)H(4)O(4) (2-)·2H(2)O, the complete terephthalate dianion is completed by twofold symmetry and has a dihedral angle of 23.5 (2)° between the carboxyl-ate group and its parent ring. Two independent water mol-ecules serve as both donors and acceptor in the construction of undulating hydrogen-bonded host layers with various O-H⋯O contacts ocurring between the anion and two water mol-ecules. At the same time, the tetra-methyl-ammonium cations, as the sphere-like guest species, are arranged in two rows between neighboring host layers, with an approximate inter-layer distance of 7.36 Å, forming a sandwich-like crystal structure.

Project description:Phase VI of bis-(tetra-methyl-ammonium) tetra-chloro-zincate(II), (C(4)H(12)N)(2)[ZnCl(4)], contains three formula units per asymmetric unit. Several short C-H⋯Cl contacts [2.70 (3) and 2.72 (4) Å] are observed, but they are believed to participate only in van der Waals inter-actions. The crystal studied exhibited inversion twinning.

Project description:The title compound, (CH(6)N)(2)[WS(4)], was synthesized by the reaction of ammonium tetra-sulfidotungstate(VI) with aqueous methyl-amine. The title compound is isotypic with the corresponding Mo analogue (CH(6)N)(2)[MoS(4)], and its structure consists of a slightly distorted tetra-hedral [WS(4)](2-) dianion and two crystallographically independent methyl-ammonium (MeNH(3)) cations, all of which are located on crystallographic mirror planes. The tetra-sulfidotungstate anions are linked to the organic cations via hydrogen-bonding inter-actions.

The -NH(3) (+) and -CH(3) groups of the cation adopt a staggered conformation. The F atoms of the tetra-fluoridoborate anion are disordered over two sets of sites in a 0.519?(11):0.481?(11) ratio. Weak C-H?F inter-actions occur in the crystal, which possibly correlate with the anion disorder.

Project description:The title compound, C4H12N+·C11H5N4 -, contains one tetra-methyl-ammonium cation and one 1,1,7,7-tetra-cyano-hepta-2,4,6-trienide anion in the asymmetric unit. The anion is in an all-trans conjugated C=C bonds conformation. Two terminal C(CN)2 di-nitrile moieties are slightly twisted from the polymethine main chain to which they are attached [C(CN)2/C5 dihedral angles = 6.1?(2) and 7.1?(1)°]. The C-C bond distances along the hepta-dienyl chain vary in the narrow range 1.382?(2)-1.394?(2)?Å, thus indicating the significant degree of conjugation. In the crystal, the anions are linked into zigzag chains along the [10] direction by C-H?N(nitrile) short contacts. The anti-parallel chains stack along the [110] direction with alternating separations between the neighboring anions in stacks of 3.291 and 3.504?Å. The C-H?N short contacts and stacking inter-actions combine to link the anions into layers parallel to the (01) plane and separated by columns of tetra-methyl-ammonium cations.

The tetra-methyl-ammonium cation has a slightly distorted tetra-hedral configuration and the N-C bond lengths lie in the range 1.457 (3)-1.492 (3) Å. In the crystal, no classical hydrogen bonds are observed between the cation and the anion.
